Today was another appointment with the high risk doctor. Things with Maddy are still looking about the same. The umbilical cord is still around her feet so that has remained the same. One thing that I guess he had noticed last time but somehow wasn't communicated was that her abdomen is measuring a little small for her gestational age. It was the same this time but it was new news to us so it was a little jarring. All her other measurements are lining up pretty much at 32 weeks but the abdomen was measuring 29 weeks today. He doesn't know if it means anything or not. Another one of those things to keep an eye on. Because of the abdomen measurement being small he wants us to go in to our doctor every week and get a fetal heart tone to make sure the heart is sounding okay. But the heart was still looking good and all internal organs looked good. But today's appointment was quite upsetting for me because the doctor in charge of neo-natal at Trinity does not want us to deliver there. So they are wanting us to go back to having the delivery at Medical City in Dallas. So this means that we'd have to switch doctors because our doctor does not deliver at Medical City. So this was really upsetting because I know my doctor now and don't want to change doctors 8 weeks or less before it is time for the baby to come. So I was really, really upset. Probably out of proportion upset, but there is nothing with this pregnancy that I am comfortable about and this just makes one more thing to really make me uncomfortable. Anyway, Aaron works with a lady that used to be in charge of the neo-natal unit at Medical City and so we went down to DBU after the appointment to talk about things with her. She was so nice and told us some recommendations about people and doctors to get in touch with down there. She can also get us a tour of the neo-natal at medical city whenever we want. So I felt calmer after we talked to her. We will have to talk to our regular OB on Monday and see what he is thinking and if he knows anyone to refer us to at Medical City. So at this point I really don't think that it is going to work out for us to go to Trinity. I also don't like this because Medical City is such a drive from our house and it is going to be really hard for Aaron to be running back and forth to check on the dogs while we are at the hospital. So I don't know how all of this is going to work out, but I need prayers for peace about the change and that we'll get a great doctor to work with.
I have taken some big emotional steps the past couple of weeks as far as getting a room for the baby ready. We sold our weight bench and our computer amoire that were in the office--$100 last weekend off the whole deal!--and I also bought a little raccoon figurine for the baby when we went to stock show. I have a picture that I drew of a raccoon a while back and we are going to frame that. Tomorrow some friends are coming over for dinner and he is going to help Aaron move a dresser into the baby room and move a desk out of the room. I know this sounds like nothing, but it is a huge step for me to even be getting any decorations or arranging anything whatsoever. For awhile I just couldn't even think about getting anything ready beyond just necessary stuff for when the baby arrived. Tonight we also bought some music CD's that I will listen too a lot so she can have familar music because the lady Aaron works with suggested to us today of getting CD's of music she is familiar with and also making a CD of our voices talking and reading stories at some point becuase if the baby does have to go to NICU then they will play the CD's of our voices and familiar music and that will help her feel safe in the NICU. There is no reason right now from what we've seen on the sonogram to suppose that she will have to go to NICU but just in case I guess.
We went to stock show in Ft. Worth last Friday. That was fun. We went to the rodeo and then watched some cow auctions and looked around at exhibits and livestock barns, mostly cows. I had never seen a cow auction before so it was kind of interesting. Aaron really had a great time because he used to show cows and one time had a steer that he sold at stock show. We stayed there for a long time. I was so tired of walking by the time we got done.
Not much else has been going on other than school, school, school. I am trying to bust through my classes before the baby gets here. I've gotten all my reading done for the semester so now it is time to get down to the brass tacks and work on papers. Good ol' papers.
Some really good news is that Aaron got a 2% raise because DBU met their enrollment for the semester. We are definitely happy about that. I don't think too many people are getting raises in this economy. Hopefully the raise will cover the increase in insurance when Maddy gets here. They had donuts to celebrate on Thursday morning so Aaron was pretty excited to go get some Krispy Kreme donuts.
I can't think of anything else and neither can Aaron so I guess that about does it.
