A Few Last Words...

before heading to Colorado! I am both excited about and dreading the trip. Can't wait to get there but don't want to do all the driving to make it happen. I have been cleaning and packing and working on school. That has been my life this week. Well that is an exaggeration. I have gotten to do quite a few fun things as well. This is a graphic I made from the rose picture from the previous blog. I am using on my midterm web design project. I have to redesign a non profit organization's website. Not for real! Just for the project. Well, our car troubles just keep on a comin'. Aaron wrecked the Honda this week. On Tuesday he was turning left through an intersection down by UT Southwestern and a guy T-boned him on the passenger side. I was so glad no one was riding with him. They would have been hurt. Thankfully, Aaron wasn't hurt. He hasn't complained of being sore so that is good too. They moved the accident from the intersection. Our car was barely made it to the ...

Grad School

I am sitting in a pavillion on the DBU campus right now. I did not realize this campus was so pretty. It is very green with lots of ponds and fountains and most of the buildings are pretty attractive. I met with the guy who is in charge of the MLA programs today. I cannot believe how simple the application process is. You just fill out an application online and send in your transcripts. Then he evaluates those two things along with a written statement of why you want to be in the Master's program. Then he makes a recommendation and sends it to a committee who then approves or rejects the application and that's it. No application deadline. The program itsself is great. I can take 18 hours of English as my specialization which will allow me to teach at a community college. I will have to take the 9 core classes required for the MLA degree. Then I can take the rest of my hours in fine arts, political science, history, religion, missions, or a couple of other things I don't rem...

More Wound Up that if i'd had 7 cups of coffee!!

SUPER EXCITING NEWS FLASH!!!! Wow! What a great Monday! It's not often you can say that, but this Monday has been exceptionally great. I sent all of ya'll an email, but in case anyone missed it, Aaron was offered a job at DBU today. His starting pay is $62,000 a year. On top of that they are going to give me a scholarship for grad school so that I don't have to pay for any of my classes. On top of that, we'll be able to go spend the whole month of July in Colorado! I am so excited to get to visit friends and family and to get out of the horrible heat in Dallas. We had our first 100 degree day yesterday. Getting off subject.....anyway, thank you all for praying for Aaron through this whole process. ON TO OTHER NEWS I have been working pretty hard on my online classes this week. The pictures are pictures of different projects I've done for my photoshop class. Nothing too impressive yet, but I'm really enjoying it despite having to do tons of work in a short amount...

The Fun Has Started

I started my online classes today. I can tell it is going to be a lot of work to squeeze into an 8 week course, but I'm still pretty excited about my classes. I'm taking Digital Imaging which is basically a how to use photo shop class. I'm also taking web design II so I can improve on the skills I learned in web design I. Right now I'm taking a goof off break from working on my assignments. The position at DBU is looking really good for Aaron right now. He is the number 1 choice to both the dept. head and the--I guess you would call him lead professor--at DBU. They have not pursued an interview with the other applicants for the job. Aaron will meet with the provost on Friday or early next week for an interview. He may also be interviewing with the president of the college at that time. If they say okay, then they will start writing up the contract for him which would begin August 1st. So just keep praying about the job. I know he would love teaching and no research. We...

Cindy's Beautiful Wedding

Cindy was one of the most beautiful brides I have ever seen. Her wedding was simple and so pretty. We all had such a great time getting to hang out with everyone who was there. We got to my parents house about 11 on Thursday. We stayed the night there. They had donuts for us for breakfast in the morning. Then we all (me, Aaron, Ethan, Nat, Holly G., and my parents) headed up to Denver. We ate lunch at Wendy's. Tammy had been working on the cake for a couple of hours and she was glad to see us and have a break. We spent the rest of the afternoon at the church finishing up decorating. They had already done a lot of it on Thursday, which made Friday a lot less stressful. It while to get the rehearsal started because Dad and Ethan got lost going to get EJ's tux and Caleb (Brad's brother) got off work late, but once everyone got there, rehearsal was really painless and went really well. Carole and Doug got Qdoba catered for the rehearsal dinner. It was delicious and the dinner w...
