Big Girl Maddy

Maddy is getting much more adventurous in the way she gets around. This video shows how much she had improved in walking since the beginning of the summer. Maddy also started swim therapy yesterday. She had a great time. She is so small they had to put floaties on her arms a floatie around her waist and then put weights on her ankles so she wouldn't tip over. They played all kinds of games in the pool and the therapists were so impressed with how confident she was in the water. By the end of the session she had almost gotten the hang of balancing herself upright in the water without the weights on her ankles. We'll do swim therapy every other week. I think it will be great for her. Maddy is doing great with language skills and also developing quite an imagination. Yesterday we went to Wal-Mart to do some grocery shopping. On the way in we saw a bird in the parking lot. Maddy told me, "That bird's going grocery shopping." Hilarious! She is also great at re

Maddy Fletcher, M.D.

On Wednesday morning a trauma patient arrived at the Fletcher Hospital E.R. Maddy Fletcher, M.D., the doctor on duty, quickly bandaged the patient, Minnie Mouse, and administered medication.  Minnie was sent to recovery for a few hours where she was issued standard hospital garments. Is this the hospital morgue?  Oh! Ha ha! Thank goodness. Minnie was just being measured for a bed. A perfect fit!  Minnie was then taken to some kind of play therapy session. In this picture the therapist offers Minnie an orange plastic fish and instructs her, "Grab this. Try to grab it."  Minnie is taken from play therapy to ICU (right outside the door) to spend the nigh

Last Gasp of Summer and Into Fall

It has been busy, busy, busy since school started. The end of this week will mark a month of being back to classes. On Labor Day we did our traditional end of summer trip to Farwell. We didn't get to leave until Saturday.  We got to Lubbock about 5:30 and had supper with Grandma and Grandpa and David, Janet, Clayton, and Karsyn. I hadn't gotten to meet Karsyn yet so it was really good to get to spend some time holding her. Everyone else was at the first game for Tech. After supper we loaded up and drove on out to Farwell. Sunday morning we went to church and really enjoyed. Then Mema made a delicious dinner for the whole family. It was great to see everyone and Maddy enjoyed hanging out with Mema, the grandparents, various aunts and uncles and cousins of one sort or another. It was kind of a mixed feeling day because it was a year ago that we spent our last weekend with Papa before he died.  After church that evening, Aaron and Eldon went out to the watermelon patch and
