House Updates

Here are some pics of our house after getting the carpet in and all the painting done. We did so much in one weekend and then just the few areas of trim and touch up we had left took us 2 or 3 weeks to get done. I guess we were burned out on painting. But it is finally all done and put back together. Here are some pics: Entrance. We did two-tone walls and a chair rail. I also did a paint/distressing job on this chair and it turned out really great. Laundry area craft room front stairs Living area. Carpet was biggest change in here. We did paint but the color we chose was very similar to what was already in there. Window thing that looks over to back stairs. Really like how the three colors came together right here. Dining area/kitchen. Really love how the window area turned out. Kitchen. This was a pain to paint but worth how nice it looks. Camera was out so Maddy thought she needed to have her picture taken. :)

First Haircut

Maddy got her first official haircut today. I've trimmed her bangs at home for the past couple of years, but she has NEVER had her hair cut or trimmed in the back. She has been asking to have her haircut for almost a month now so today, when aaron went to get his hair cut, we decided to let Maddy get hers done too. I think she loved the whole experience and you could tell she felt so pretty after it was done. Her hair and ponytail look so strange all trimmed up. It really does look nice though. They did a good job and I think she'll enjoy not having quite so much hair to deal with.

Hee Haw Part 2 and Sandbox

Aaron: Maddy can I have some chips? Maddy: No. Aaron: Maddy, you need to share. Maddy: I'm sharing with Maddy. Maddy (randomly in the middle of Walmart): Do bees smile? Maddy thinks inanimate objects have the same feelings and emotions as humans. She has apologized to her stuffed dog for spilling water on him and to Eeyore for stepping on him. My favorite is when we were painting the house and a friend brought over a ladder and set it on the front steps. Maddy saw the ladder and said in a bright and perky voice: "Hey ladder! Whatcha doin'?" Last week we did some Bible lessons at home on Adam and Eve. We talked about how Adam and Eve disobeyed God and that made God sad. One of the activities involved some apples that said "Do not eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil." At the end of the lesson I asked Maddy what she learned. She answered, "Don't eat the apples!" We were watching the Ranger's game the other nigh...

Hee Haw!

The Maddy funnies are piling up so I've got to write them down before I forget them all. Here is a video of the saga of the animal cracker kitty cat. I love how the kitty cat has his own voice: Maddy has been picking up lots of expressions from who knows where. The other day she was helping Aaron put up a gate we got for the stairs. He asked her to hand him something and she replied, "Hold on chica." Maddy's prayer life has developed quite a bit. Up until just recently, I've been helping her say a prayer that she just repeats after me. Well one night she decided she wanted to say her own prayer, but she still didn't know what to say so I asked her to think of something she could tell God she was thankful for. She thought for a minute and then said, "My tee shirt and cupcakes." So we prayed about the tee shirt and cupcakes. One night at dinner she decided to pray. She thanked God for many members of the family by name and then concluded the p...

And the Worst Parenting Award Goes to....

ME! Uggg! I have felt like a horrible mother all weekend. Poor Maddy. We went to a friend's house on Friday night. They had a sandbox in their yard that she absolutely love. She got out of it maybe once for 10 minutes the whole time we were over there. Anyway, I went to check on her after she'd been playing maybe 20ish minutes or so and noticed she had bites all over her arms and legs. The thought of mosquitoes hadn't really occurred to me because we just don't have much of a problem with them around our house. Of course if we're outside, we're usually moving around so maybe that helps. Anyway, the poor girl was eaten alive. I put on bug spray but it was too late. She was just covered in bites. She did pretty good all day Saturday about not scratching them or complaining too much, but Saturday night she started getting really upset. The bites had swollen quite a bit and she was just miserable. I put on cortisone cream and put her to bed, but she slept horrible. ...
