At Home in the Mountains

We dried out a little bit last week so we got busy while the sun was shining. We put the weed block down on the new flowerbed and got some perinials to put in. Maddy chose a rose bush. It's a double knockout rose so hopefully we won't kill it. We then had to wait for a shipment of quince shrubs from Gurney's before going on to the next step on this project. Garden has been producing lots of goodies. Also got some mulberries off our mulberry tree. Mulberries stain bad. I had purple rings around my fingernails for several days. I made my own laundry detergent for the first time ever. Thanks to Chrissy for the recipe. I really like it so far. We were going to a friends house and Maddy decided to go with a 1920's vibe for the occasion. A project from school: When I am 100 years old Kelsay randomly decided she wanted a bow in her hair. We had 6 month dentist appointment for Maddy. No cavities! First time in a year and a half. The kid's sonic...

 Not done. Working on it. Started but haven't finished. Almost done but not quite. At some point in the future I will.... This kind of describes my life right now. We got a little dresser from the store to put our out of date...er, I mean vintage eclectic...TV on. At some point I will paint the dresser. It came with the cute old timey mirror. I like having it because I was able to move some of the kids's toys like puzzles and paper dolls into the drawers instead of having them on an open shelf in the playroom.  We had Aaron's cell bio class over for dinner. Maddy directed a puppet making craft for them. Completely her own idea. She came up with the craft, gathered the supplies and gave the instructions.  A flowerbed we're building. I got the rest of the dirt chopped up and the first row of bricks set but that is all the progress since this picture. Rain and allergies brought this project to a grinding halt.
