SUPER EXCITING NEWS FLASH!!!!

Wow! What a great Monday! It's not often you can say that, but this Monday has been exceptionally great. I sent all of ya'll an email, but in case anyone missed it, Aaron was offered a job at DBU today. His starting pay is $62,000 a year. On top of that they are going to give me a scholarship for grad school so that I don't have to pay for any of my classes. On top of that, we'll be able to go spend the whole month of July in Colorado! I am so excited to get to visit friends and family and to get out of the horrible heat in Dallas. We had our first 100 degree day yesterday. Getting off subject.....anyway, thank you all for praying for Aaron through this whole process.

ON TO OTHER NEWS

I have been working pretty hard on my online classes this week. The pictures are pictures of different projects I've done for my photoshop class. Nothing too impressive yet, but I'm really enjoying it despite having to do tons of work in a short amount of space. Hopefully I'll be really good at all this stuff by the end of the semester. At least it has been fun for the most part besides the headaches induced by having to stare at the computer all day, every day.

We went to a birthday party for David Gregory in Denton this last Saturday. It was really fun. We grilled hamburgers and got to meet some of David and Beckie's friends from church. David and Beckie had just gotten a new Dodge truck. David needed it for his job. Their kids were well behaved and adorable as usual.

Aaron has gotten another teaching contract since last time I wrote. A lady that was teaching a night class at Brookhaven ended up having some kind of personal issues (we think alcohol) so he ended up taking over her contract. So he is getting a whole contract for 2 weeks of work. The only downside is that it is every week night until 10 o'clock so I won't see him hardly at all until the end of the month. But he really wanted to teach this class and the students are going to have to have a lot of help. They did not even have a syllabus when Aaron taught class for the first time last Friday. Crazy! I think I might hang out with Tricia a couple of nights and of course I can always work on class and other things I need to get done around here and draw. So I will be able to keep myself pretty busy.

I am going to go to Wal-Mart either tonight or tomorrow and buy some curtains. Aaron and I have come to the conclusion that we need curtains to help keep the sun out of the house and also for while we are gone to cut down on heat getting into the house. We have some blinds but they don't do anything to keep the sun out of the house. They have these curtains at Wal-Mart that look nice and they are made out of a special material that is supposed to keep 99% of light and heat from coming through the window. It's got to help some. It will be a little pricey because our windows are huge, but not as pricey as the ac bill.

Stay cool!

Great post!! I am so thrilled for you guys. Only a few more weeks and you are off for the rest of the summer! I can sometimes spend all day staring at the computer, then I get mad at myself for not getting anything really done and having a headache and feeling weird because of it. Good luck with your class! I like the cow pic- I think it's cute. Are the tomatoes still being stolen? My corn has started to bloom. Exciting stuff!

A whole month off in the summer. Great! That is worth a lot in addition to the great pay. Glad he is finally getting to teach.

Getaway to Ticks Bend....I Mean Beavers Bend State Park

Back in April, we decided we needed to do a short family getaway after the semester was over. The last time we'd been on vacation just to vacation (not going to see family in CO) was when we went to San Antonio when Maddy was 3 months old. We found Beavers Bend State Park close to Broken Bow, OK and decided to go there. We booked a cabin in the state park and eagerly awaited the day we could take off for our getaway. We left on Sunday afternoon and stayed through Tuesday afternoon. It was short, but so fun and relaxing. We had no computer and no cell phones while we were up there. We just got to enjoy being around each other and the beautiful scenery.  We built a fire and roasted some marshmallows. Also popped some jiffy pop. Aaron had never done one of those before.  This is a 100 year old cabin they had at the visitor center. I like the mud chinking ( I think that's what it's called). A couple named Comma and Mabel lived in the cabin when the CCC was building t...

Another Sonogram

We went to the high risk pregnancy doc today for another sonogram. This time he could see all four chambers of the heart, the pulmonary valve, etc. In his words it looked "dramatically better". He feels there is still some slight compression on the heart and that we need to continue watching it. As of now he cannot see anything that is causing it and the MRI did not see anything either. He also felt that the hands were okay. They are not clenched fists at least as he first thought, meaning that the fingers aren't overlapping each other. Her hands are still in fists and she won't open them but he said he has had other babies that have not opened their fist in the sonogram but the hands have been normal at birth, so we still have a lot of hope for those little hands. He was able to get a better look at the face today, no cleft palate, so that is a huge blessing. The feet are still concerning. They are definitely clubbed but she is also not moving them. She is moving her...

More Miss Maddy pics

Here are some more pictures of Maddy. I know everyone is eager for pictures. We got to put her first little outfit on last night. She got out of the incubator bed and into a regular bassinet so she can now wear clothes and have her own blankies and stuff. It is great.
