If the devil can't make you bad he'll make you busy

I feel like this saying has applied to us this week. I think all of us are just worn to a frazzle after the past week. Some activities were fun and some weren't. I had a great time going to Jenna's brunch and shower and the DBU baseball game but not such a great time going to doctor's appointments and class and all the driving that I did this week. Thank goodness that graduation, school, and doctor's appointments are over for a bit. I am so ready to just have nothing on the calendar. May still has a few doctor's appointments and events but June is looking blissfully blank until Ethan and Jenna's wedding.
Here are a couple of pictures of our flowers. They are looking amazing. I am sad that the heat is coming soon and most will probably wilt and die. Aaron and I have talked about several ideas we have for further landscaping on the yard and hopefully we can do those soon. otherwise we will have to wait until fall because it is going to be way to hot to work outside pretty soon. We have another tree growing up in our front flower bed that we need to try to transplant into the yard. Yea for free trees! We want to get the yard looking nice because our goal is to try to sell the house next summer and find a place that is better for our family. Mostly we are interested in a house that has no stairs and we're hoping we can find a place with a couple of acres of land and is closer to DBU. All that is down the road though. Right now we need to work on getting this house looking good.
We also want to build Maddy a cubby shelf for upstairs to put her toys and books on. Right now all of her toys that are upstairs are in a big pile against the wall. Not very attractive.
I went on a run today to try to kick off my training for the ascent in August. I also had my last Dr. Pepper or any carbonated beverage for a while yesterday. I am going to have enough problems breathing in that race to be drinking stuff that will make it worse. I went running at 9 in the morning and it was already burning up so I guess I am going to have to try to go earlier in the morning or wait until evening when the sun isn't beating down on me. It is killer to push the stroller while running and feeling like you are about to have heat stroke.

Matt and I have taken plenty of 10 or 11pm runs to avoid the heat. I know what you mean! Well, your yard is looking great! We've got to get ours in shape inside and out to sell this summer. Good idea to start early.

I used to go walking with my friend after 9pm. It was the only time it was even relatively comfortable to exercise! So hot in the summer! Stephen and I decided after our last house that lots of landscaping was not for us! HA! So, we like the very simple landscaping that came with our house. Our last house had so much and it became impossible to keep up with! It looked great when we bought the house and it definitely gave it great curb appeal. But, those people were retired and had lots of time on their hands to keep it looking so good! Not us! Anyway, have fun!! Looks great!

No way will I be posting pictures of our yard. What a mess, been too busy trucking and farming. And I HATE mowing grass.

Your's looks great! First impression is probably 75% of the equation when selling a home I would think.

Getaway to Ticks Bend....I Mean Beavers Bend State Park

Back in April, we decided we needed to do a short family getaway after the semester was over. The last time we'd been on vacation just to vacation (not going to see family in CO) was when we went to San Antonio when Maddy was 3 months old. We found Beavers Bend State Park close to Broken Bow, OK and decided to go there. We booked a cabin in the state park and eagerly awaited the day we could take off for our getaway. We left on Sunday afternoon and stayed through Tuesday afternoon. It was short, but so fun and relaxing. We had no computer and no cell phones while we were up there. We just got to enjoy being around each other and the beautiful scenery.  We built a fire and roasted some marshmallows. Also popped some jiffy pop. Aaron had never done one of those before.  This is a 100 year old cabin they had at the visitor center. I like the mud chinking ( I think that's what it's called). A couple named Comma and Mabel lived in the cabin when the CCC was building t...

Another Sonogram

We went to the high risk pregnancy doc today for another sonogram. This time he could see all four chambers of the heart, the pulmonary valve, etc. In his words it looked "dramatically better". He feels there is still some slight compression on the heart and that we need to continue watching it. As of now he cannot see anything that is causing it and the MRI did not see anything either. He also felt that the hands were okay. They are not clenched fists at least as he first thought, meaning that the fingers aren't overlapping each other. Her hands are still in fists and she won't open them but he said he has had other babies that have not opened their fist in the sonogram but the hands have been normal at birth, so we still have a lot of hope for those little hands. He was able to get a better look at the face today, no cleft palate, so that is a huge blessing. The feet are still concerning. They are definitely clubbed but she is also not moving them. She is moving her...

More Miss Maddy pics

Here are some more pictures of Maddy. I know everyone is eager for pictures. We got to put her first little outfit on last night. She got out of the incubator bed and into a regular bassinet so she can now wear clothes and have her own blankies and stuff. It is great.
