After the family reunion we went to Colorado Springs to spend some time with my parents. I love the Colorado Springs area. I think it is one of the most beautiful areas in the state. Aaron and my dad got up super early on Wednesday morning to go meet Aaron's dad on Monarch pass and pick up our car. The rest of us slept in and then took Maddy to play at the park by my parents' house. Maddy had a great time swinging and sliding down the slides with Aunt Tammy.
Can you tell she got spoiled? She loved all the attention, "new" toys, and games. She also had a blast with a bunch of old stickers my mom let her play with.
On Thursday we went to the Fletcher ranch. They had put in a patio under their deck and it was really nice. they had a little fountain that Maddy was determined to crawl into.
This is an old plow sitting out by the big cabin. Made a cute photo op.
Aaron and Maddy playing in Great Grandparent's house.
On Friday my mom graciously watched Maddy so we could go to the incline with my dad. This Tam and Dad beginning the intimidating hike.
From the top. Follow the line down as far as you can see. This hike was killer. It is .9 miles and 2000 ft. elevation gain. My legs were burning at the end but I felt like I had really accomplished something and at least got one good training session in for the ascent.
A chipmunk at the top of the incline enjoying a hiker's leftovers.
Almost there!
This is a view of Pike's Peak on the hike back down. We'll be hike/running to the top of it in less than two weeks!
Friday afternoon we went down to Brad and Cindy's for a great time and delicious dinner. Dad needed a little cat nap after the incline. :) It was fun to get to see all the work that Brad and Cindy have done over the past six months and also to get to see Baby Bethany's room.
On Saturday Cindy came up to the Springs and we got to hang out all day. We went to Village Inn for pie and that evening my dad grilled out chicken and squash. Another great meal! We enjoyed the beautiful summer evening on their deck which they will soon be replacing.
Cindy helped me cut Maddy some bangs. It got her hair out of her eyes and she looks pretty cute to boot.
On Sunday we did the marathon drive home. We stopped along the way for a picnic. That was fun and the best part was that Tammy came with us. She will be here for about a week. I'm so excited to have her here. More fun times to come!
