Well, the whole week was just a little crazy. Instead of describe it all, I just put the craziest highlights into a time line. A very incomplete time line. It doesn't include Aaron's final schedule, routine doctor appointments, or activities we did catching up with friends.
We did our Christmas last night. We wanted to give Maddy a few days to play with what she got from us before we leave, and I am thinking that we'll take down the tree BEFORE we leave this year. Otherwise, it is just going to be too big of a mess.
Anyway, Maddy did her first trip to the ER last night. While opening presents, we had one that had plastic zip ties that needed to be cut off. Aaron got the pocket knife and was working on them. Maddy was watching him. I had gotten up to go to the kitchen or do something for just a minute so I didn't see the incident, but suddenly heard Maddy wailing. Tammy and Aaron said she got cut so we ran to the bathroom for tissue, rubbing alcohol and bandaids. It was soon apparent that a bandaid and pressure was not going to get the bleeding to stop anytime soon so we took off for the ER. I guess while Aaron was trying to cut the tie off she reached down to "help" and grabbed the knife just as he was pulling it back to slice the tie and she got her fingers slices. Only one spot was bad and it was on the right index finger. She got two stitches at the ER. She was a trooper about the whole thing. Cried when they numbed it for the stitches of course, but did well for everything else. She was definitely ready to get out of there and go home when all was said and done. Lesson learned. On the way to the ER she kept telling Aaron, "Don't grab the knife! That's not for Maddy!" She was very calm except for the first few minutes after it happened so we thankfully didn't have a terribly traumatic drive to the ER or wait in the waiting room. Made for a late night and a tired girl today. Fortunately she is napping. Here are some pics from the present opening. Before and after accident are obvious.
