At Home in the Mountains

I think we are kind of past the Ides of March now. Actually I've never really known what that term referred too. I just know Julius Caesar was assassinated on March 15th and that it was during the Ides of  March, whatever that is. Anyhow, our Ides of March was not tragic in anyway except that I do have a sore throat right now, maybe strep, maybe not, but I'm on antibiotics just in case because I really don't want to pass it to Maddy if I do have strep. The strep test at the doctor's yesterday came back negative but I feel like I always do when I have strep and I have some white pockets of stuff in my throat, so..........Anyhow, I am feeling better today after taking my first dose of antibiotics, so on to happier and more interesting topics. First, we have been potty training for a little over a week. Maddy is doing well, although I think we still have a ways to go on calling her officially potty trained. I still have to ask if she needs to go all the time, but ...

At the park. The dogs sliding was Maddy's idea but Daddy was happy to accommodate.  It's Spring Break this week! It has been nice to not have to prepare for class and the weather has been perfect for being outside. Even before this week, we've just been enjoying the Spring weather. We put our garden in on March 2nd. I think this is the first time we've actually got our garden in at the right time. Usually we end up planting way to late and then we don't make anything. Playing a game on Mommy's phone.  I started a photography class last week. It is a continuing education class at the community college and is 8 weeks long. The teacher seems to be good so far. I think I will learn a lot from him. A friend from church is taking the class as well, so it is an added bonus to get to take the class with her. Monday was the big day! The "DEATH TO THE PINK CAST!" day. I made the mistake of telling Maddy, before breakfast, that she was getting her cast off. As a result she ate no breakfast and spent most of the time trying to push the cast of her leg and saying, "I can't get it! I can't do it!" Finally, after I explained about umpteen times that the doctor had to cut it off, she finally got it and was immediately ready to take off to Scottish Rite. (Appointment was still about 2 hours away.) Somehow we made it through 2 long hours. Our wait time to see the doc was pretty long. I had no idea Maddy knew the doctor's name at SR, so I was shocked/amused when she kept asking in the waiting room, " Where is Dr. Herring?" This is a balloon that Maddy got in the hospital. It lasted through the entire cast episode. I finally got rid of it today. Triple layer with tights on top to protect leg and foot. They finally got us back in the room and then a...
