The tree is up, the christmas lights are up,.....and the a/c is on?

 A few pictures from Thanksgiving:

We put our tree up the last day of November. Maddy got to open her advent calendar and an ornament from Granna the night we put the tree up. I love putting the tree up. 70-80% of our ornaments are homemade and 90% have a special significance. There is the snowman cowboy we bought in Sedona on our honeymoon, there are the ornaments made by Aaron's great grandmother at the turn of the last century (1900). There are ornaments his mom made him when he was growing up, and the ornaments from my first Christmas. I still have an ice cream cone that I made with a silk Christmas ball ornament in 5th grade. The whole class chose a red ornament to make their ice cream cone except me and one other kid. We chose yellow. There are the ornaments I've made Maddy each Christmas and the ornaments Maddy's grandmothers have given her. I was pretty crushed this year because Maddy broke a sand dollar ornament to bits that was from my Sunday school teacher in 6th grade. Jane MaClanahan (sp?) was a southern belle from a tobacco plantation in North Carolina. She taught Cindy, Tammy, and I in Bible class at Reserve. She had us memorize the 23rd Psalm as well as other Bible passages and took us to Round Table Pizza in Springerville, AZ as a reward when we'd done all our memorization. For Christmas, she gave each of us a real sand dollar with a red ribbon as a hanger. I have treasured that for years and it reminds me of Jane every Christmas. I am sad that it is gone because I don't know if I will think about her anymore without that ornament to remind me of who she was.

Every year, I try to make Maddy an ornament that represents something she is really into that year. This year I made her a kitty ornament. She was on a streak of asking for 5 kittens for Christmas to be Seal's friends. I don't know why so many, but that request is not going to come true. She loved her kitty ornament. She did not want to put any of the ornaments that were her's on the tree. She just wanted to hoard them in a little pile and play with them.
We already have some presents under the tree. I'm realizing this is a mistake. Aaron caught Maddy just in time trying to open a present tonight. She knows what presents belong to who. Hopefully I can keep her out of them for a while.
It has not felt like Christmas despite all the preparations. 80+ degrees today. We had the windows open, fans running and the air conditioner on! I have never run the ac in December. Another new experience.

I love looking at people's Chrs. ornaments. It seems it reveals something special about the person/family. I have to laugh at myself. The ornament you made Maddy this yr. looked like it had a wing in the text pic you sent. I realize now that was the string to hang it. So I thought you made a "bug", but couldn't figure out why the bug had whiskers. hahaha Silly me. I see the kitty perfectly in this pic. You got some nice T-giving pics.

Mikali wanted a "real puppy" this year, or a kitty. Neither of which is happening. :)

Getaway to Ticks Bend....I Mean Beavers Bend State Park

Back in April, we decided we needed to do a short family getaway after the semester was over. The last time we'd been on vacation just to vacation (not going to see family in CO) was when we went to San Antonio when Maddy was 3 months old. We found Beavers Bend State Park close to Broken Bow, OK and decided to go there. We booked a cabin in the state park and eagerly awaited the day we could take off for our getaway. We left on Sunday afternoon and stayed through Tuesday afternoon. It was short, but so fun and relaxing. We had no computer and no cell phones while we were up there. We just got to enjoy being around each other and the beautiful scenery.  We built a fire and roasted some marshmallows. Also popped some jiffy pop. Aaron had never done one of those before.  This is a 100 year old cabin they had at the visitor center. I like the mud chinking ( I think that's what it's called). A couple named Comma and Mabel lived in the cabin when the CCC was building t...

We Need Your Prayers

Many of you have probably heard all ready, but Aaron and I got some devastating news today. Our baby will probably not survive outside the womb. They did an amneostasis this afternoon to test for chromasomal defects, which is what they think it is right now. I know I am spelling everything wrong so I hope what I write makes enough sense for everyone to understand what is going on. The specialist we went to see feels that it is triploidy or triamias 18. Those may not be the right names but they are two of the three chromasomal defects. The other is down's syndrome. He did not feel that it was down's. The other two defects are fatal so if we carry the baby to term it will not live but for a few days or hours if one of the defects above is the problem. We will know in 2days. If it is not one of those then we will have to go to a cardiologist and a genetic counselor. The baby had clubbed hands and feel and it's heart is not formed correctly and is not in the right place. Becau...

Another Sonogram

We went to the high risk pregnancy doc today for another sonogram. This time he could see all four chambers of the heart, the pulmonary valve, etc. In his words it looked "dramatically better". He feels there is still some slight compression on the heart and that we need to continue watching it. As of now he cannot see anything that is causing it and the MRI did not see anything either. He also felt that the hands were okay. They are not clenched fists at least as he first thought, meaning that the fingers aren't overlapping each other. Her hands are still in fists and she won't open them but he said he has had other babies that have not opened their fist in the sonogram but the hands have been normal at birth, so we still have a lot of hope for those little hands. He was able to get a better look at the face today, no cleft palate, so that is a huge blessing. The feet are still concerning. They are definitely clubbed but she is also not moving them. She is moving her...
