Birthday Overload

 It's been several weeks of nothing but birthday. First me, then Maddy, and yesterday, Aaron. With Easter thrown into the mix as well, we are pooped from partying. The party for Maddy started on Thursday when she took cupcakes to her class at school and had an Easter egg hunt, all in the same day.
 This is a random pic of a "beautiful bouquet" of weeds Maddy picked from the backyard. She is telling her bunny to say cheese for the camera.
 Friday we did egg dying. Maddy loved it as usual. We went a bit overboard this year with 12 colors of dye and a total of 32 eggs. I was going to do 18 but Aaron thought we were wasting dye so he boiled another dozen for us to color.

 I think Maddy likes eating the eggs as much as she likes dying them. What a little ham.
 Saturday was the big 0-4! Maddy requested an "Abbey and Houdini chasing a bunny" cake. Tam and I put our heads together and came up with one. She loved it.
 We combined Easter/Spring decor with the b-day to make it easier. We used the eggs we dyed and Maddy's stuffed bunnies, ducks, and lambs.

 Maddy was trying to guess what her presents were before opening. Her comment on this one: "I think this feels like frozen meatballs." (It was a thermos for water.)
 The big gift. A tricycle! She loves it! LOVES it. We have ridden every day so far. It is going to take some work to get the peddling down and to get some distance but she's loving it.
 We told her to say cheese and instead she yelled, "HELP!" She couldn't get off the trike by herself.
 The bday girl requested spaghetti and meat balls for her birthday supper.
 This is Maddy trying to use as many presents as she possibly can at once. She is wearing her bike helmet, wearing her swimsuit and sparkly princess shoes, riding her trike, and she has play food she got for her play kitchen stored in her little compartment on the back of the bike.
 Easter morning. Pretty girl. At first she wasn't sure if she should touch her Easter basket. That didn't last long. The explosion below continues down the stairs to the front door.

 Aaron's b-day was pretty low key after all the celebrating. We opened presents. Maddy got him a razor. She wanted to get him a black t-shirt that said RASTIFARI with a lion wearing a crown walking out of a background of tye dye color. I had to tell her no on that one, so she got him a razor instead. She was Daddy's little birthday helper. She supervised all the present opening and helped him blow out the candle on his piece of leftover birthday cake (from her bday cake). Before you feel too sorry for Aaron, he does have a rain check on a birthday meal and dessert at Cafe Brazil.

Animal Happenings

 It looks like the last update I posted on animals was about going to the sale barn and getting cows. As a reminder we got a calf/cow pair and a "weaned" calf: Chloe, Midnight, and Mooey. Chloe and midnight are some kind of black angus mix and midnight is part Holstein. Midnight and Mooey will eventually be our meat cows. We hope to AI Chloe sometime in the near future for another calf. Midnight, her calf pictured below (much littler in the pic than he is now) is a very good looking steer. He could go to the fair if he wanted. This is a picture of him getting out of his fence and coming in the yard. He still gets out from time to time. Having a mama calf keeps both the steers in line though. They are much better about not getting crazy, unlike some other steers we could name from the past, but won't. Getaway to Ticks Bend....I Mean Beavers Bend State Park

 Back in April, we decided we needed to do a short family getaway after the semester was over. The last time we'd been on vacation just to vacation (not going to see family in CO) was when we went to San Antonio when Maddy was 3 months old. We found Beavers Bend State Park close to Broken Bow, OK and decided to go there. We booked a cabin in the state park and eagerly awaited the day we could take off for our getaway. We left on Sunday afternoon and stayed through Tuesday afternoon. It was short, but so fun and relaxing. We had no computer and no cell phones while we were up there. We just got to enjoy being around each other and the beautiful scenery.  We built a fire and roasted some marshmallows. Also popped some jiffy pop. We Need Your Prayers

Many of you have probably heard all ready, but Aaron and I got some devastating news today. Our baby will probably not survive outside the womb. They did an amneostasis this afternoon to test for chromasomal defects, which is what they think it is right now. I know I am spelling everything wrong so I hope what I write makes enough sense for everyone to understand what is going on. The specialist we went to see feels that it is triploidy or triamias 18. Those may not be the right names but they are two of the three chromasomal defects. The other is down's syndrome. He did not feel that it was down's. The other two defects are fatal so if we carry the baby to term it will not live but for a few days or hours if one of the defects above is the problem. We will know in 2days. If it is not one of those then we will have to go to a cardiologist and a genetic counselor. The baby had clubbed hands and feel and it's heart is not formed correctly and is not in the right place.
