Little Bits O' Life

We dried out a little bit last week so we got busy while the sun was shining. We put the weed block down on the new flowerbed and got some perinials to put in. Maddy chose a rose bush. It's a double knockout rose so hopefully we won't kill it. We then had to wait for a shipment of quince shrubs from Gurney's before going on to the next step on this project.

Garden has been producing lots of goodies. Also got some mulberries off our mulberry tree.

Mulberries stain bad. I had purple rings around my fingernails for several days.
I made my own laundry detergent for the first time ever. Thanks to Chrissy for the recipe. I really like it so far.
We were going to a friends house and Maddy decided to go with a 1920's vibe for the occasion.
A project from school:
When I am 100 years old
Kelsay randomly decided she wanted a bow in her hair.
We had 6 month dentist appointment for Maddy. No cavities! First time in a year and a half. The kid's sonicare toothbrush we got is amazing! She picked pink vampire teeth for her prize. This pic makes it look like Kelsay punched her teeth out.
Mother's Day. Nuff said.
Maddy made an ant trap because we have ants in our house. Not sure how this was supposed to work.
School's out for summer! Above: first day and last day of kindergarten and award ceremony. She got a scholarship ribbon and kindergarten completion certificate.

Scottish Rite summer all stars basketball camp. Free for patients. So fun! We will try golf tonight if it isn't raining.

Landscaping completed. Now it just needs to get established and grow!
Miss cutie pie.
Turtle in our backyard. No idea how it got back their. Aaron and Maddy took it back down to the creek on the walking trail.

First ripe tomato!

agh!! I'm way behind you on the vegetable garden. Hanging my head in shame. Looks great! That's really cool about the scottish rite sports. That'll be a lot of fun this summer.

The turtle may have been there to lay her eggs! It could be a very fun surprise for you guys in a few weeks. Were there any dug up spots in your yard (well hidden)?

I love all your pics. Great wrap up of recent activities. You are on the go dogs go track. MM looks great with that basketball. Kelsay is a "ham". Even though I have seen most of the pics already, I love seeing them again and again. Wish we had some fresh garden produce.

Getaway to Ticks Bend....I Mean Beavers Bend State Park

Back in April, we decided we needed to do a short family getaway after the semester was over. The last time we'd been on vacation just to vacation (not going to see family in CO) was when we went to San Antonio when Maddy was 3 months old. We found Beavers Bend State Park close to Broken Bow, OK and decided to go there. We booked a cabin in the state park and eagerly awaited the day we could take off for our getaway. We left on Sunday afternoon and stayed through Tuesday afternoon. It was short, but so fun and relaxing. We had no computer and no cell phones while we were up there. We just got to enjoy being around each other and the beautiful scenery.  We built a fire and roasted some marshmallows. Also popped some jiffy pop. Aaron had never done one of those before.  This is a 100 year old cabin they had at the visitor center. I like the mud chinking ( I think that's what it's called). A couple named Comma and Mabel lived in the cabin when the CCC was building t...

Another Sonogram

We went to the high risk pregnancy doc today for another sonogram. This time he could see all four chambers of the heart, the pulmonary valve, etc. In his words it looked "dramatically better". He feels there is still some slight compression on the heart and that we need to continue watching it. As of now he cannot see anything that is causing it and the MRI did not see anything either. He also felt that the hands were okay. They are not clenched fists at least as he first thought, meaning that the fingers aren't overlapping each other. Her hands are still in fists and she won't open them but he said he has had other babies that have not opened their fist in the sonogram but the hands have been normal at birth, so we still have a lot of hope for those little hands. He was able to get a better look at the face today, no cleft palate, so that is a huge blessing. The feet are still concerning. They are definitely clubbed but she is also not moving them. She is moving her...

More Miss Maddy pics

Here are some more pictures of Maddy. I know everyone is eager for pictures. We got to put her first little outfit on last night. She got out of the incubator bed and into a regular bassinet so she can now wear clothes and have her own blankies and stuff. It is great.
