Legoland!

This week Aaron's sister, Amber, and her two boys came to visit. Theyben is really into legos so we decided to take the kids to Legoland on Friday. We had never been before and I really didn't know much about it. It was OK. It was perfect for our kids and their ages but some of the rides were broken
or partially broken so that was annoying to me. Also, the waterpark part of it which was kind of like a big splash pad/playground was not open because of the season. Also it took them like 20 minutes to get our tickets printed so we could get into the center. The kids really did love it though and Maddy seems to be into legos too now, which would be great. We'll see if it sticks.
As we entered Legoland, the kids got to help "make" lego bricks. Maddy's job was to spin a wheel that "ran" the machine. She took her job super seriously. She was told to turn the wheel as fast as she could so she did. She didn't hear the lady say she could stop the first time so she kept spinning and spinning the wheel as fast as it was go. When she finally heard that it was ok for her to stop she turned around and kind of just sagged down out of breath with her tongue sticking out. It was too funny.
Next we went on a laser tag ride where you had to shoot targets to get points. Kelsay hated that ride. Maddy and Theyben got to play in a bounce house area but Dustin and Kelsay were too short so we took them to the duplo brick area. Then they found the build and test racer place. Kelsay used some cars that people had left. She had a great time pressing the button to let the cars go down the ramp to race.

After the other kids showed back up, Kelsay and I went to the earthquake tables while the rest of the kids built a car to race. Kelsay had a great time stacking duplo blocks at the earthquake tables. You could build a tower and then use the tables to try to knock the tower down. She also enjoyed pressing buttons and turning the knobs.

The other kids finally got their cars ready to test. Maddy's won. Her's was lightning fast. Not sure
how she accomplished that as she's never built a thing out of legos before. Aaron did help her with putting it together. They also had ramps that you could send your car down.

Maddy and Theyben got to go on the jeep ride. Theyben was an expert driver. Maddy made it around the track once. They did it again and she got a little more driving in the next round. Maddy also went on a ride with Aaron that was called Merlin's Apprentice. Something they had to peddle I think. Anyway, I think that was her favorite ride.

We went to the Miniland display. That was really cook. They had built a bunch of buildings in Dallas out of legos like the airport above.

Dallas skyline and Dealy Plaza above.
American Airlines center and Dallas stadium.

When night falls in miniland the fireworks go off.
Maddy in front of Reunion Tower.
 Ranger Stadium
After Miniland we went to the 4D cinema. The 3D was broken so it was 2D cinema with effects. They did wind and some water and snow type effects in the theater while you watched the movie. Kelsay loved the snow/mist part.
After the movie the kids were starving so we got a quick snack at the cafe.
Then it was off to Aaron's favorite, North Main BBQ, for a Texas style BBQ dinner. I think everyone enjoyed that, especially since we were all starving by the time we got there.
Our microwave went out this week. This is the new one. It was a nice time to have it go out if that's what had to happen because there were a lot of pre-black friday deals on so we got a good price on it. Aaron installed it. Hopefully it will be a good one.

Animal Happenings

It looks like the last update I posted on animals was about going to the sale barn and getting cows. As a reminder we got a calf/cow pair and a "weaned" calf: Chloe, Midnight, and Mooey. Chloe and midnight are some kind of black angus mix and midnight is part Holstein. Midnight and Mooey will eventually be our meat cows. We hope to AI Chloe sometime in the near future for another calf. Midnight, her calf pictured below (much littler in the pic than he is now) is a very good looking steer. He could go to the fair if he wanted. This is a picture of him getting out of his fence and coming in the yard. He still gets out from time to time. Having a mama calf keeps both the steers in line though. They are much better about not getting crazy, unlike some other steers we could name from the past, but won't. We ended up having to feed quite a bit of hay this winter as we had snow cover from November to end of March. We got our barn built about January and began collecting more ...

Getaway to Ticks Bend....I Mean Beavers Bend State Park

Back in April, we decided we needed to do a short family getaway after the semester was over. The last time we'd been on vacation just to vacation (not going to see family in CO) was when we went to San Antonio when Maddy was 3 months old. We found Beavers Bend State Park close to Broken Bow, OK and decided to go there. We booked a cabin in the state park and eagerly awaited the day we could take off for our getaway. We left on Sunday afternoon and stayed through Tuesday afternoon. It was short, but so fun and relaxing. We had no computer and no cell phones while we were up there. We just got to enjoy being around each other and the beautiful scenery.  We built a fire and roasted some marshmallows. Also popped some jiffy pop. Aaron had never done one of those before.  This is a 100 year old cabin they had at the visitor center. I like the mud chinking ( I think that's what it's called). A couple named Comma and Mabel lived in the cabin when the CCC was building t...

We Need Your Prayers

Many of you have probably heard all ready, but Aaron and I got some devastating news today. Our baby will probably not survive outside the womb. They did an amneostasis this afternoon to test for chromasomal defects, which is what they think it is right now. I know I am spelling everything wrong so I hope what I write makes enough sense for everyone to understand what is going on. The specialist we went to see feels that it is triploidy or triamias 18. Those may not be the right names but they are two of the three chromasomal defects. The other is down's syndrome. He did not feel that it was down's. The other two defects are fatal so if we carry the baby to term it will not live but for a few days or hours if one of the defects above is the problem. We will know in 2days. If it is not one of those then we will have to go to a cardiologist and a genetic counselor. The baby had clubbed hands and feel and it's heart is not formed correctly and is not in the right place. Becau...
