Winter Wonderland

After basically not experiencing winter for 9 years, it has been great to have winter! The snow is beautiful. If there is snow, we try to go out and play for a little bit, even if it is in the teens or single digits. We bought really good winter gear before moving so it has made being in the cold not a big deal.
At the end of November, we cut our Christmas tree from our property. A friend from Bible Study and her family came and cut one with us. It was bitter that day. We had terrible windchill. We all warmed up with Mexican food after tree cutting.

The kids enjoyed decorating the big tree and we cut them their own little trees for their bedroom so they got to have the fun of that as well. I think having their own tree will be a great, new tradition.

We still have lots of deer around. This deer was sniffing the dog good in the dog pen. I didn't get the pic in time. Houdini scared him so this is him running away.

The first Saturday of December, Maddy got to be in the Woodland Park Christmas parade with her girl scout troop. It was cold. We gave her hand warmers and toe warmers but her toe warmers never activated so she said her feet got cold at the end. Nanna and Grandad and the Meyers came to watch her as well. We all warmed up with coffee at Taco Bell after the parade was over.

The girls have been trying out sledding. We tried the driveway the first time. Kelsay thought it was great but Maddy didn't like it. It was not a very good slope.

We finally decided to try the hill in front of the house and that was much better. Yesterday, Aaron shoveled all the snow off the deck and make a ramp for them to sled down. That worked great! They both loved it.
i got to try the ramp with them today. Super fun! A little dangerous because if you aren't careful you can speed down into the road. Maddy went on her own today and she did just that. Scared me because if a car had been coming that would have been bad.

we also made plain cookies today!
Kelsay did her Christmas program on the 11th. So cute!

 Beautiful winter sunsets and views.

Getaway to Ticks Bend....I Mean Beavers Bend State Park

Back in April, we decided we needed to do a short family getaway after the semester was over. The last time we'd been on vacation just to vacation (not going to see family in CO) was when we went to San Antonio when Maddy was 3 months old. We found Beavers Bend State Park close to Broken Bow, OK and decided to go there. We booked a cabin in the state park and eagerly awaited the day we could take off for our getaway. We left on Sunday afternoon and stayed through Tuesday afternoon. It was short, but so fun and relaxing. We had no computer and no cell phones while we were up there. We just got to enjoy being around each other and the beautiful scenery.  We built a fire and roasted some marshmallows. Also popped some jiffy pop. Aaron had never done one of those before.  This is a 100 year old cabin they had at the visitor center. I like the mud chinking ( I think that's what it's called). A couple named Comma and Mabel lived in the cabin when the CCC was building t...

We Need Your Prayers

Many of you have probably heard all ready, but Aaron and I got some devastating news today. Our baby will probably not survive outside the womb. They did an amneostasis this afternoon to test for chromasomal defects, which is what they think it is right now. I know I am spelling everything wrong so I hope what I write makes enough sense for everyone to understand what is going on. The specialist we went to see feels that it is triploidy or triamias 18. Those may not be the right names but they are two of the three chromasomal defects. The other is down's syndrome. He did not feel that it was down's. The other two defects are fatal so if we carry the baby to term it will not live but for a few days or hours if one of the defects above is the problem. We will know in 2days. If it is not one of those then we will have to go to a cardiologist and a genetic counselor. The baby had clubbed hands and feel and it's heart is not formed correctly and is not in the right place. Becau...

Another Sonogram

We went to the high risk pregnancy doc today for another sonogram. This time he could see all four chambers of the heart, the pulmonary valve, etc. In his words it looked "dramatically better". He feels there is still some slight compression on the heart and that we need to continue watching it. As of now he cannot see anything that is causing it and the MRI did not see anything either. He also felt that the hands were okay. They are not clenched fists at least as he first thought, meaning that the fingers aren't overlapping each other. Her hands are still in fists and she won't open them but he said he has had other babies that have not opened their fist in the sonogram but the hands have been normal at birth, so we still have a lot of hope for those little hands. He was able to get a better look at the face today, no cleft palate, so that is a huge blessing. The feet are still concerning. They are definitely clubbed but she is also not moving them. She is moving her...
