North Pole

We took the kids for a surprise trip to the North Pole today. It is basically like a Joyland with a Santa twist. We wanted to go before they got too old to enjoy. On some of the littlest rides, the magic was already over for Maddy.  They had some cars that you could "drive" around a track. We got about 20 yards into the ride and Maddy suddenly let go of the wheel and said, "I'm not really driving." Other rides were still so scary they made both kids cry. Both left the tilt-a-whirl bawling and not wanting to get on anymore rides. Maddy did pretty good with  the bigger roller coaster but Kelsay was scared to death. All the people watching her ride said her face looked "totally freaked". There were lots of good in between rides that both girls enjoyed and did more than once.

They got to feed some English Fallow deer.

We also did candle dipping and watched some glass blowing. Sixty and older gets into the park free, so Nanna and Grandad came for the last couple of hours and enjoyed a few rides. Kelsay thought she couldn't live without the stuffed animals in the gift shop. We told her she had to so she posed for a picture with her favorite.
The girls got to sit on Santa's lap. Maddy was pretty excited but Kelsay was not a big fan. She did not cry but stuffed her glove in her mouth and chewed on it the whole time and refused to talk to Santa.
The girls had a great time and there was a lot more to the North Pole than I'd thought just from seeing it from the highway. If anyone remembers the farris wheel you can see going through the canyon from the Springs to Woodland Park, we got to ride that today. It is the highest (elevation wise) farris wheel in the world.

Getaway to Ticks Bend....I Mean Beavers Bend State Park

Back in April, we decided we needed to do a short family getaway after the semester was over. The last time we'd been on vacation just to vacation (not going to see family in CO) was when we went to San Antonio when Maddy was 3 months old. We found Beavers Bend State Park close to Broken Bow, OK and decided to go there. We booked a cabin in the state park and eagerly awaited the day we could take off for our getaway. We left on Sunday afternoon and stayed through Tuesday afternoon. It was short, but so fun and relaxing. We had no computer and no cell phones while we were up there. We just got to enjoy being around each other and the beautiful scenery.  We built a fire and roasted some marshmallows. Also popped some jiffy pop. Aaron had never done one of those before.  This is a 100 year old cabin they had at the visitor center. I like the mud chinking ( I think that's what it's called). A couple named Comma and Mabel lived in the cabin when the CCC was building t...

We Need Your Prayers

Many of you have probably heard all ready, but Aaron and I got some devastating news today. Our baby will probably not survive outside the womb. They did an amneostasis this afternoon to test for chromasomal defects, which is what they think it is right now. I know I am spelling everything wrong so I hope what I write makes enough sense for everyone to understand what is going on. The specialist we went to see feels that it is triploidy or triamias 18. Those may not be the right names but they are two of the three chromasomal defects. The other is down's syndrome. He did not feel that it was down's. The other two defects are fatal so if we carry the baby to term it will not live but for a few days or hours if one of the defects above is the problem. We will know in 2days. If it is not one of those then we will have to go to a cardiologist and a genetic counselor. The baby had clubbed hands and feel and it's heart is not formed correctly and is not in the right place. Becau...

Another Sonogram

We went to the high risk pregnancy doc today for another sonogram. This time he could see all four chambers of the heart, the pulmonary valve, etc. In his words it looked "dramatically better". He feels there is still some slight compression on the heart and that we need to continue watching it. As of now he cannot see anything that is causing it and the MRI did not see anything either. He also felt that the hands were okay. They are not clenched fists at least as he first thought, meaning that the fingers aren't overlapping each other. Her hands are still in fists and she won't open them but he said he has had other babies that have not opened their fist in the sonogram but the hands have been normal at birth, so we still have a lot of hope for those little hands. He was able to get a better look at the face today, no cleft palate, so that is a huge blessing. The feet are still concerning. They are definitely clubbed but she is also not moving them. She is moving her...
