3 hour glucose test

So I did the 3 hour glucose test on Friday. Today the dr.'s office called and told me that that test came back normal--so no gestational diabetes! Yeah. I would have been shocked if I had it but you never know. I think the lady did not draw the blood at the right time on the first test. That lab is very shady. Some of you have already heard the crazy events of Friday so feel free to skip the next few paragraphs. So as you may or may not recall, the doctor called last Thursday and told me that I had "failed" the glucose test and I was very upset. I had to find a 3 hour block where I could go in and do the 3 hour glucose test to test further whether I actually had gd or not. So I decided to schedule it for the next day because the only day I could work it out was Fridays and I did not want to have to worry about it for a whole week. So I asked the nurse that called me if I needed to call the lab to schedule the test. She said no, she would just fax the paper work over and I

Glucose Test

Well, more complications for us. The doctor called this morning and said my level was a little high on the glucose test. They want me to go back to the lab for a 3 hour test and have my blood drawn every hour to check further how I am breaking down sugar. I don't know when I am going to go in for three hours and I don't do well fasting for long periods of time so it is going to be hard. I feel like the lab that my doctor uses is very incompetent. The lady that did the test the first time did not tell me that I needed to note the time when I finished drinking the sugar stuff so when she asked me I just had to say well I think it was this time, but I didn't really know, so I am hoping that the problem is that she took my blood too early and that everything is fine, but is still a pain in the butt to have to go in for a 3 HOUR test. Arrggg! So please pray for my attitude about this this week. Sometimes I get into a pity party for myself feeling like I have gotten so ripped off

Shower pics and doula meeting

Aaron playing the price is right game. He won the Bordeaux's Butt Paste. Everyone says it's the best. He did not guess the correct price. He just won it because no one else got the price close either and everyone else had already won a prize. :) The three pregnant ladies. Sorry, this is a disappointing view of my belly. The shirt I had on covers more than it shows off and I think I didn't get turned to the side good enough for the pictue. In the middle is Sarah, due Feb. 27th and Jamie is on the right, due March 7th. We met with the doula today. Her name is Delilah. Hmmm. But she was super nice and helpful and we're going to go with her. She will meet with us again in Feb. to discuss in detail our "birth plan". She has attended about 80 births and has done three babies with club feet. She is a Christian and I think she will be invaluable emotional support in the delivery room. Both Aaron and I feel really good about this decision and I feel relieved to have so

Birthing Class Finale/Shower

We had a busy weekend! Saturday we finished up our birthing class and learned lots of new and helpful information. We were there for 7 hours this time. The class was very good but I was so ready to stop sitting for a little bit at the end. I think both of us feel glad we went but also just completely bombarded with information that it's going to take a little bit to process. Guess that's what happens when you try to learn everything in two days. At the end of our class our teacher came up to us and suggested that we contact one of her friends that is a Doula. For those of you who don't know (I didn't know what this was before I took this class) a doula is like a birthing coach that helps you through the labor process. A lot of people that want to have a natural labor (no pain meds, etc.) us a doula. I had never thought I would be interested in this. In fact, up to the moment that the teacher suggested this lady, it wasn't even an option in my mind. We had shared a l

Birthing Class and Pomegranates

I gave Houdini and Abbey a bath on Friday. They always look good after a bath so I wanted to take pictures of them outside where Abbey's eyes might not look like lasers. Well Abbey was still so scared of me from getting a bath that she wouldn't come or sit or stay. But Houdini was a good boy and I got some good pictures of him looking all nice and clean and handsome. ***************************************** As I mentioned in my last post, at our last doctor's appt. we asked about birthing class and when to sign up. So I called that afternoon when we got home to try to set something up. The only two classes available that we could take were either this past Saturday and next Saturday for 8 hrs a day or two weekends in March, same schedule, when I was at 38 wks. At first I signed up for the one in March, feeling like the one right now was a little too early. Then I talked to Aaron and he was concerned that we might miss everything because we could have the baby by that time.

Back to the regular ob/gyn

Not too much happened at this appt. today. I have to set up a time to take the glucose test--yea! I hope you all realize that yea is very sarcastic. It sounds like everyone is on board with delivering at Trinity so far. Yea! That's a real one. The only person left to talk to is the doctor in charge of the neonatal unit at Trinity to make sure she is comfortable with us delivering there. We also got a number to call to find a birthing class to go to. He said to start around 32 weeks so we'd have enough time to complete the 6 wk. course and still remember what we learned when we go to deliver. Right now I am down to 2 doctors appointments a month! That is a huge blessing because 1. it means Maddy is doing much better and 2. I don't have to try to go to a million appts. a month. Much less stressful. We are praying that God will continue to keep Maddy's heart looking good and strong and that he will bless her hands and feet. No one really knows what is going on with them no

Another Dr.'s Appt.

We went to the high risk doc for Maddy today. Everything is still looking good with the heart. He is recommending another MRI to rule out any masses in areas like the lung that he can't see on the sonogram. We didn't schedule one today but will take time to consider what we should do. The umbilical cord was still on top of her feet. This time he said that that doesn't necessarily mean that she is not moving her feet but it is still something to watch. If I understood what he said correctly, babies don't move their feet straight up and down a lot so she could be moving them around under the cord. She is still holding her hands in fists but the fingers look okay and he said the fists are not tightly clenched. He was going to call the pediatric cardiologist today and also the neonatal nurse at Trinity to see if it would be okay if we delivered there as originally intended. For a while they were wanting us to go to a hospital with a level 3 nursery because of the heart. So

Chirstmas with Aaron's Family

Houdini and Eli and Gracie--3 of the 9 yes I said 9 dogs that were at Aaron's aunt's for new years eve. We also had 7 cats. All the cats are his aunts. They have 3 dogs. Then there were our 2 dogs, Aaron's mom's 2 dogs, and his sister's 2 dogs. Talk about a zoo! I like my animals but not mixed with a bunch of other people's animals. It was insane. Marley--Aaron's sister's new puppy. She is a sweet girl. She is a pit/boxer mix. Very mellow. The pound told them she is 9 weeks but she is huge. I think she is closer to 12 wks. Aaron hanging out with the puppy and loving it. Nephies opening there Christmas presents. ********* I didn't take as many pictures at Aaron's family's. There wasn't enough time! We stayed so busy running around seeing everyone. We were in Montrose, Olathe, and Grand Junction visiting. Aaron's Aunt Sherry made a huge meal on New Year's day. We got to see Aaron's best friend from college, Kevin, and his wife H
