This year's fair was a great one! Everyone came in on Friday making it in time to at least wish Tricia a happy birthday. After at least an hour of effort on Aaron's part we got a fire going with wood that had been soaked by the rain. We roasted s'mores and played bananagrams.
The day of the fair was chilly. I don't think it got above 55 all day. Fair food was excellent as usual and we started with some corn dogs. We watched the K9 acrobats-dogs that chase frisbees around. We also saw a diving show, a BMX bike show, and rode the ferris wheel.
The boys made sure they all got to chow down on their fair favorite...turkey legs!
Every year there is a butter sculpture at the fair. Yes it is made out of butter. They display it in a refrigerated area to keep the butter from melting. This year's sculpture was a western bar scene.
This is the group that came to the fair. 13 of us in all plus two of Tricia's roommates joined us.
This is the Dallas skyline from the Ferris wheel. You could see a long way and a lot of stuff.
Maddy on her first fair ride. She enjoyed it. Aaron wanted to hold her for part of it but he was sitting on the outside and she got too cold.
The highlight of the fair for me this year was that Tammy got to fly down and enjoy it with us. We had such a good time. We ate at a Brazilian food restaurant and a vegetarian restaurant, went to the fair, went and showed her around DBU, went to church, and she got to go rock climbing with Tricia one day. So much fun! I am worn out now but I still wish that it could have been a longer visit.
Tomorrow Maddy is getting her ear tube in her left ear. That is at 7 in the morning. If all goes as planned it should be a less than 10 minute procedure. I really hope that this will fix her hearing problems. Please say a little prayer for us tomorrow morning. Maddy is doing great. We got new splints at Scottish Rite this week and they continue to be impressed with how her knees are looking. They are not perfectly straight but straight enough that they can support her weight when she starts to learn to walk. Her hands are doing really good to. She can grab just about anything she wants and when she puts her hand on something she has all five fingers stretched out usually. Her middle fingers on both hands are still somewhat tight but she has had huge improvements over the last couple of months.
Anyone else ready for some sun? We have had rain here for days and days. I think it is supposed to warm up tomorrow. Nice side of it is that we have been able to have the a/c shut off for the most part.
