Chit Chat

These last couple of weeks have been thankfully light on the doctor appointments for Maddy. She has mostly just had physical therapy and occupational therapy. We got a new physical therapist because her old one left and we met with her yesterday. Wendy seems like she is going to be a great therapist. However, Maddy was not impressed with having to work with someone new and cried through the whole session. Oh well. She will get used to Wendy (I hope).
In other news Aaron and I signed up for another race in May. This is a crazy race though. It is called the Warrior Challenge and it is a 5K obstacle course. You have to do all kinds of crazy things like crawl up and slide down mud slopes, run through creeks, jump over fire, etc. Some of our friends were doing it and asked us if we'd like to join them. It is May 2nd.
My cousins were able to finalize the adoption of their foster kids this week. That is great news for them and I am so happy that that journey is finally over for them. It seems like their kids have just always been part of the family.
I haven't really mentioned on here yet that my brother is getting married in June. My sisters and I are in the wedding so that will be fun. We are supposed to go order our dresses in the next couple of weeks. I have been in several weddings, but never one that used bridesmaid dresses from David's Bridal so that will be a new experience for me.
Other than that, our lives have mostly been revolving around getting started for this semester of school. So far, the prep time Aaron has to devote to his cell biology class hasn't been as bad as he expected. Still with adjuncting several online classes he stays super busy. I have a presentation coming up for my class on the 24th. Presentations are not my favorite so I am ready to get it behind me.
Also EVERYONE CHECK OUT MY BROTHER-IN-LAW, BRAD HALL's, WEBSITE: http://www.farmnaturalenterprises.com/index.html
He is a chef and is starting this website that includes podcasts about food and cooking. It is a really cool website, so if you enjoy cooking or eating I suggest you check it out from time to time.
Happy groundhog day! Anyone know what the verdict is on how much longer winter is going to last?

Getaway to Ticks Bend....I Mean Beavers Bend State Park

Back in April, we decided we needed to do a short family getaway after the semester was over. The last time we'd been on vacation just to vacation (not going to see family in CO) was when we went to San Antonio when Maddy was 3 months old. We found Beavers Bend State Park close to Broken Bow, OK and decided to go there. We booked a cabin in the state park and eagerly awaited the day we could take off for our getaway. We left on Sunday afternoon and stayed through Tuesday afternoon. It was short, but so fun and relaxing. We had no computer and no cell phones while we were up there. We just got to enjoy being around each other and the beautiful scenery.  We built a fire and roasted some marshmallows. Also popped some jiffy pop. Aaron had never done one of those before.  This is a 100 year old cabin they had at the visitor center. I like the mud chinking ( I think that's what it's called). A couple named Comma and Mabel lived in the cabin when the CCC was building t...

Another Sonogram

We went to the high risk pregnancy doc today for another sonogram. This time he could see all four chambers of the heart, the pulmonary valve, etc. In his words it looked "dramatically better". He feels there is still some slight compression on the heart and that we need to continue watching it. As of now he cannot see anything that is causing it and the MRI did not see anything either. He also felt that the hands were okay. They are not clenched fists at least as he first thought, meaning that the fingers aren't overlapping each other. Her hands are still in fists and she won't open them but he said he has had other babies that have not opened their fist in the sonogram but the hands have been normal at birth, so we still have a lot of hope for those little hands. He was able to get a better look at the face today, no cleft palate, so that is a huge blessing. The feet are still concerning. They are definitely clubbed but she is also not moving them. She is moving her...

Fall-The Best Season of All

I love fall! I used to be a bigger fan of summer when we lived in Colorado but I have always liked fall and it has definitely risen to the top of my favorite season list since moving to Dallas. Fall means that I actually can go outside and enjoy being outside again. That is especially a relief after this summer. It is so great to be able to take Maddy on a walk in the middle of the day if I want to....and it's a great way to get her to take a nap without a big wrestling match. Fall also means the Texas State Fair, which means all the fried food you can eat, fun with family, and lots of fun animal shows to entertain the two kids--I mean the kid and the kid at heart when it comes to animals.. I usually spend some of the fall season missing the crisp air a beautiful changing colors in Colorado, but this year we actually got to go back to visit Aaron's family for fall break so we got to have a little taste of that as well. Here are some great pictures from our fair ...
