Well I could kick myself because this is about the only picture I took while Tammy was here. Guess that just shows we were too busy having fun to worry much about the camera....and maybe I was pictured out from all the pictures I took on vacation.
Tam caravaned home with us last Sunday. She probably wondered what she had gotten into when we didn't stop to eat "lunch" until 4 p.m. and then made a pit stop at the filthiest gas station in Texas. (Note to travelers: Do not stop at the Bellvue, TX Phillips 66 gas station. Hasn't been cleaned since 1985). But we made it home in 13 hours. Not bad! We were all wiped out from that ordeal so the next day we just spent kind of resting up and we grilled out ribs that night. I think the hot weather also sapped our energy coming back straight from some really beautiful weather.
On Tuesday we went out to DBU and had lunch with Aaron. I thought Maddy had OT but she didn't. Showed up for an appointment that didn't exist. Talking about feeling dumb and like you've wasted your time. Fortunately we were going to DBU anyway so we just made an extra stop on the way. Tricia joined us for lunch and we had a great time and its always a treat to get to go have lunch with Aaron. He is so busy during the semester he doesn't really have time to do lunch a lot. Tammy also got to finally see the DBU chapel. It has been locked up for some random reason the last two times she's been here. Tuesday evening, Rachel came over and brought Chris and we had a good time visiting with them. That night Tam and I went running and saw a falling star right in the middle of our run. It was really cool. Right after that we almost got our ankles chewed by a little schnauzer. I think we scared it as much as it scared us and it just went into attack mode. There was lots of startled yelling and jumping around which gave us some laughs after the incident was over.
Wednesday, Maddy had PT. It was funny because when Wendy came out to get her she was ready to go. She held out her arms for Wendy to take her and just had this kind of "let's get back to work!" attitude. It was funny.
Thursday we took Maddy to the Callier to get new ear molds for her hearing aids. We thought we lost the ear mold for the left hearing aid but I looked again in the car today and found it under some trash so I am really thankful she doesn't have to go a whole month without her left hearing aid. She will get her new ear molds toward the end of Sept. After the Callier we went to Tricia's apartment so Tam could see her new place. Tric made a really great dinner for us and we had fun hanging out.
Friday we went down to North Main BBQ in Euless. It was yummy as usual, but about halfway through our meal all their electricity went out. At first it wasn't too bad but it started feeling pretty warm by the time we were done. I forgot to mention that Aaron had lunch with Dr. Cook and some other people on Thursday and Dr. Cook gave Aaron these personality tests for us to fill out. Aaron got the results on Friday so we had fun talking about the results.
Yesterday we went to the Amon Carter museum in Ft. Worth. I think Tam really enjoyed that and again it was a nice activity to get into a building that had really good air conditioning. We also had lunch at Jake's, a burger restaurant that Aaron has wanted to try for a long time. It was good. I recommend it. Yummy fried pickles!
Tam left this morning to head back to Colorado but she will break the trip up into a couple of days. :) Maddy loved having her aunt here to play with, but we won't have to miss her for long because on Thursday we're flying back up to Colorado for the long anticipated/dreaded Pike's Peak Ascent!
