We had a great Christmas that flashed by before we knew what was happening. My parents came to Dallas this year. They arrived Saturday night, stayed with Tammy and then went to Mansfield for a couple days On Monday, we went to Mansfield for Baby Jude's 1st birthday party and then my parents came home with us that night. On Christmas eve, the Hall clan (minus Brad who had to work til ridiculously late :( ) came over. We had one of our favorite Eckstein family Christmas meals--TAMALES! Yum!
After dinner, we opened gifts. The kids had a great time. Maddy and Bethany both made gifts for each other. Maddy got a play dough bead necklace from Bethany and Maddy made Bethany a little door hanger/ornament with lots of pink and purple and the intial "B". (She has been watching Mommy work.)
On Christmas morning, Maddy got her new kitty, Genevieve. Maddy LOVES this kitty. Now the trick is to get her to treat the kitty right so the kitty loves her back. Maddy has had fun spending her Christmas money on some things Genevieve needs like a collar, kitty food bowl, scratch pad, and kitty bed. She even enjoyed taking Genevieve to the shelter yesterday to get her last round of shots. We also got a kitten lead and harness and we are trying to teach the kitty to walk on it so that Maddy can take her outside and walk her around.
We opened family gifts Christmas morning. Maddy did a better job trying to keep presents secret this year, but didn't quite succeed. Before Christmas day she told Aaron that he was getting "chocolate but I can't tell you what's inside the chocolate." So he knew he was getting chocolate covered cherries. Maddy was so excited for Daddy to open his present from her.
Maddy also got sparkly pink boots for Christmas. They are definitely her.
Watching Granna open the calendar we gave them.
Brad and Cindy made a fantastic spread for Christmas day. We all contributed food as well. We had the best turkey I've ever eaten, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, Mom's homemade rolls, green beans, corn, brussel sprouts strawberry jello salad, Gram's macaroni salad, and pumpkin pie made by Tam. I ate too much and not enough, if you know what I mean.
After lunch we sat around and watched a movie and watched the kids play.
It wouldn't be an Eckstein Christmas without some Dr. Pepper involved!
