Abbey by Maddy

AUGUST    30 IF MARCH 15 (TPYED BY MADDY)

(dictated by Maddy)

Well one time there was this boy and he rode a train on Abbey's back. We met them at the park with Daddy and we saw him and told him who was which. That was when Daddy first started Bioschemistry (Bios Research).
I'm sad about she died. She's a really sweet girl. She was my favorite dog that we had. She protected the whole family. I was worried about Abbey cause all my family was sad and I was sort of a little nervous about thinking I will never see her again until a long time.
I poked paper umbrellas in her ears and she looked so beautiful. We did walks with her. We did a Roof Dog Race with her and now everything's just gonna be with Houdini. And all my class does not know how to say Houdini. I told Miss Oaks my dogs name and she was still alive and I was at my old kindergarten school. I told all my friends at prayer requests. My teacher knew about it. I don't know how. Mommy emailed her. My sister loves doggies. When Abbey was alive she could also play with her, and me, with Abbey. I spell Abbey just like Mommy. Abbey was the best dog in our house. She was a girl and I like girls so I'm really sad and she was a special dog to me. My blog about Abbey is gonna be longer than my mommy's.
Houdini was sad about Abbey too. Abbey's Houdini's wife. I didn't get to see Abbey's puppies before they selled them out.
My whole family is sad about Abbey.
She had a red bed and a red toy bone. She had dog food and water. She died because she was old and sick. It's good that Abbey's in heaven and it's sad that all of us are sad. I was watching Clifford when Mommy told me. I was crying, crying, crying. Animal Services* came and got Abbey to bury her. I wanted Abbey to live long enough for my birthday. I wanted her to come upstairs and have cake with us and she could have a bone cake. Her own mini bone cake is what I'm thinking of right now. And Houdini.

(pause) Houdini, do you have something to say about her? Oh! He thinks he's really sad about Abbey and he remembers some things. Houdini, do you remember when Abbey had a friend? He says yes, he did.  Houdini remembers when Abbey barked at the man. He remembers when they barked at the bug. He remembers he could only come up on Christmas and special days. He also remembers how Abbey loved Mommy and Maddy and Bethany and Kelsay and Cindy and Brad and Jude. If she would see Tuffy Hall she would dance and play with her I bet. That is what Houdini is saying. And he says I'll see her some day. And Houdini also says he remembers she was really sweet.

We will miss her. We all are gonna see her someday in heaven.

* When dictating this section Maddy asked me if "Animal Security" was the name of the people who came and got Abbey. Since she fact checked herself and used the correct name, I didn't put her original statement in her blog, but I thought it was cute and wanted to make a note so I could remember.

Getaway to Ticks Bend....I Mean Beavers Bend State Park

Back in April, we decided we needed to do a short family getaway after the semester was over. The last time we'd been on vacation just to vacation (not going to see family in CO) was when we went to San Antonio when Maddy was 3 months old. We found Beavers Bend State Park close to Broken Bow, OK and decided to go there. We booked a cabin in the state park and eagerly awaited the day we could take off for our getaway. We left on Sunday afternoon and stayed through Tuesday afternoon. It was short, but so fun and relaxing. We had no computer and no cell phones while we were up there. We just got to enjoy being around each other and the beautiful scenery.  We built a fire and roasted some marshmallows. Also popped some jiffy pop. Aaron had never done one of those before.  This is a 100 year old cabin they had at the visitor center. I like the mud chinking ( I think that's what it's called). A couple named Comma and Mabel lived in the cabin when the CCC was building t...

Another Sonogram

We went to the high risk pregnancy doc today for another sonogram. This time he could see all four chambers of the heart, the pulmonary valve, etc. In his words it looked "dramatically better". He feels there is still some slight compression on the heart and that we need to continue watching it. As of now he cannot see anything that is causing it and the MRI did not see anything either. He also felt that the hands were okay. They are not clenched fists at least as he first thought, meaning that the fingers aren't overlapping each other. Her hands are still in fists and she won't open them but he said he has had other babies that have not opened their fist in the sonogram but the hands have been normal at birth, so we still have a lot of hope for those little hands. He was able to get a better look at the face today, no cleft palate, so that is a huge blessing. The feet are still concerning. They are definitely clubbed but she is also not moving them. She is moving her...

More Miss Maddy pics

Here are some more pictures of Maddy. I know everyone is eager for pictures. We got to put her first little outfit on last night. She got out of the incubator bed and into a regular bassinet so she can now wear clothes and have her own blankies and stuff. It is great.
