Dinosaur Valley

It seems that going out to Dinosaur Valley has become almost an annual spring trip for us. I love getting out of DFW and seeing the beautiful wildflowers growing along the road and in the park and Dino Valley is such a kid friendly park....well usually. This trip was a little different. I will know next time to check the park website before we go. With all the rain we've had the creek was running very high and all of the tracks were invisible. I was so disappointed. Not for us because we've seen it all before, but the Halls came with us and it was their first time and they didn't get to see any tracks. However, it seems our kids can have fun in just about any circumstances so they still managed to have a great time. Maddy and Bethany got to play on the very edge of the creek. As Uncle Brad put it, Maddy decided to reconnect with her primal roots and paint herself in mud. They also looked for shells along the creek bank. They each filled one of Maddy's shoes w...

Baseball and The AFO Saga

For Aaron's birthday, we went to a DBU baseball game. They played ACU. Sorry to all you ACU alumni and lovers, but ACU stinks at baseball and DBU is really awesome this year so we got to see DBU run through a hitting practice. We also got to eat hot dogs, chase kids and spend a beautiful evening outside. It was fun. I took the girls home in the 5th inning because they needed to go to bed. Aaron stayed but they called them game on a ten run rule in the 7th. I didn't know that existed in college and I think it's lame but at least Aaron wasn't out there til midnight. Maddy stalking some ducks up by Aaron's office before the game. March was the month of trips to Scottish Rite. The doc wanted Maddy to go back in her AFO because she was losing range. The first one they made was awful. AWFUL!! It didn't correct her foot at all and she had to have a size 12 shoe on one foot and a size 9 1/2 on the other. Not OK. Therapists agreed with me that the brace was h...

Maddy's 6th Birthday

We have celebrated birthday for a solid week with Aaron and Maddy's birthdays. We started the birthday bash the Wednesday before Maddy's birthday by going to Frozen on Ice. Aaron heard about it and got a wild hair at the last minute to go see it for Maddy's birthday. I am too cheapskate to ever plan an event like this so I hope she's very grateful to her daddy for "the best surprise ever!". Planted the garden in the midst of the birthday chaos. It was funny because she picked this dresson her own. It was like, she knew but not really. The show was beyond her wildest dreams. It really was the perfect age to take her because it was magical for her. We got suckered into cotton candy that came with a crown and the "heart spinner". I had to put a gag on the miser inside me. Disney is extortion with a happy face. Not that we couldn't have said no.... I was surprised how much kelsay enjoyed the show. She did get restless and tir...
