Routine and Un-Routine

This week I can feel us slowly sliding back into a routine of sorts. However, nothing can be too routine when you are still in the middle of trying to get into a house while living in a camper with school about to start in 3 days. (THREE DAYS!! EEK!!) Fortunately Maddy is really excited to go to school. She had to meet with her teacher on Wednesday since she is new to the school. He gave her some sheets to do just to kind of see where she was academically. She was kind of scared to go into the classroom because she is not used to having a man for a teacher and because everything is just new. She cried just a little bit but was fine once she was done. Mr. Langford told her all about the class and the students that would be there and did a great job of just helping her feel really comfortable with her new situation. On Thursday we went back for kind of an open house in the classroom and then the PTO had a taco dinner for the school. We met several families, several new like us, and Maddy got to meet most of her classmates. She got to pick her desk and go play in the gym with some of the kids after eating so she was feeling really excited about school after we were all done. She has been asking when school starts and saying she is ready to go. I hope she will have a really great first day on Tuesday. They go half a day Tuesday and then full days the rest of the week. It will be an adjustment for her to go full days, 5 days a week, but I think it will be really good for her. Kelsay might be a bored little girl for awhile. Her school doesn't start til Sept. 7. She will go 3 half days a week. She doesn't want to go to school. She is very against it. Every time we go to Maddy's school she starts pouting and saying, I am not going to school! She is just different than Maddy. She always likes school and class but it just takes her longer to feel comfortable with the teachers or being away from mom and dad. She loved her program last year so  I know she will like it this year once she understands the different fun things she gets to do when she goes.
In other news, we are still working on figuring out if we'll purchase the house in Divide. The inspection was supposed to be yesterday but got delayed because the acquisition company did not complete the paperwork in time. So we've been pushed back to Tuesday for that. We'll have septic inspection on Thursday so it will be a busy week for us. We've had a carpet company come out to quote for new carpet and we'll get Lowe's to go out this week and give us a quote for carpet and linoleum.  We just keep hoping this place doesn't have any unexpected issues and that we'll be able to move forward and be in the place late September at the latest.
We've been keeping Theyben and Dustin overnight some for Amber. She's been able to pick up some more shifts at her overnight job as well as getting a place at a spa. Hopefully she can build a good clientele there before winter hits. The kids have loved having their cousins over but it has made for some tight quarters in the camper. Aaron ends up on the floor when we have them so it is kind of wild. Mostly they stay outside and we eat outside but sleeping, we can't work that out. They are supposed to be over tonight and maybe tomorrow night.
We had a great dinner with the Meyer's yesterday, prepared by Tric. We came into the Springs to go to Lowe's and do laundry. It was also great to sleep in a real bed. I think I made up for several rough night. Even when the boys don't come to stay, I sleep bad. The beds are getting to me. The bed rolls to the middle and kills my neck and back. The bed that makes down from the dining table is a little better but hard. At least I don't wake up with a crick in my neck when I sleep on that. So we've switched beds with the girls. That will be good for school too because we can pull the curtain and kind of shut them in so they will go to sleep (hopefully!).
Almost forgot some of the most important news: progress on the house. They poured the foundation this week. The foundation is basically a wall and supports. They will put the floor in next an that will be at ground level. You can now see the outline of the house and kind of the shape it will be. I will leave you with pics of that and some pics of the kids playing in the stock tank this week:

I didn't mention above, but the Olympics have been a big part of our routine. The kids love watching. Maddy likes women's gymnastic and diving.

For those of you who went through Woodland Park multiple times on the way to Victor, you may remember the Hungry Bear Restaurant. We tired it on Sunday.

This is Kelsay's opinion of men's indoor volleyball

Concrete truck for the pour. The mixer truck fed the concrete into a rubber hose that funneled it up into the crane looking thing which then poured the concrete into the forms.

Unfortunately, one day, I will take all of the above scenes for granted, but not today. Can't believe how beautiful it is and that we get to live here.

Forgot to say that I also enrolled Maddy in Girl Scouts this week. She'd been wanting to do that for a while. We will see how she likes it. It will be a good way to meet people.

I cannot believe how you guys have managed the craziness- you're doing amazingly well! I would be beside myself. The house is really coming along- I love seeing the progress! I also really loved Girl Scouts. Hope it's a good experience for Maddy.

Getaway to Ticks Bend....I Mean Beavers Bend State Park

Back in April, we decided we needed to do a short family getaway after the semester was over. The last time we'd been on vacation just to vacation (not going to see family in CO) was when we went to San Antonio when Maddy was 3 months old. We found Beavers Bend State Park close to Broken Bow, OK and decided to go there. We booked a cabin in the state park and eagerly awaited the day we could take off for our getaway. We left on Sunday afternoon and stayed through Tuesday afternoon. It was short, but so fun and relaxing. We had no computer and no cell phones while we were up there. We just got to enjoy being around each other and the beautiful scenery.  We built a fire and roasted some marshmallows. Also popped some jiffy pop. Aaron had never done one of those before.  This is a 100 year old cabin they had at the visitor center. I like the mud chinking ( I think that's what it's called). A couple named Comma and Mabel lived in the cabin when the CCC was building the

Another Sonogram

We went to the high risk pregnancy doc today for another sonogram. This time he could see all four chambers of the heart, the pulmonary valve, etc. In his words it looked "dramatically better". He feels there is still some slight compression on the heart and that we need to continue watching it. As of now he cannot see anything that is causing it and the MRI did not see anything either. He also felt that the hands were okay. They are not clenched fists at least as he first thought, meaning that the fingers aren't overlapping each other. Her hands are still in fists and she won't open them but he said he has had other babies that have not opened their fist in the sonogram but the hands have been normal at birth, so we still have a lot of hope for those little hands. He was able to get a better look at the face today, no cleft palate, so that is a huge blessing. The feet are still concerning. They are definitely clubbed but she is also not moving them. She is moving her

One Year Ago Today

One year ago today we found out we were having a little girl. One year ago today, the OB called us into his office and told us that Maddy was not going to survive. One year ago today God heard the prayers of many friends and family and he started working a miracle. One year ago today I thought I would never see my precious little girl alive. One year ago today I was so shocked I didn't and couldn't feel anything but disbelief. One year ago today, God started planning that today a little girl named Madeline Mae Fletcher would be by my side as I write this, talking and playing with her stuffed cow that Aunt Tammy gave her. One year ago today God set out to prove that he is faithful and he hears his people's prayers and that he still does miracles. Today is bittersweet because one year ago today our dreams and plans we had for our new life with our baby girl were destroyed. But one year ago today God started making a new plan to give us a different dream and a different plan.
