Expanding

I'm showing! Aaron was to lazy to stand up to take the picture, thus the weird angle.

Piggyback ride!

What can I get into next?

Fingers make great chew toys.

My mom and sisters have been hinting that I should put a picture up of myself when I started to show so the picture is mostly for them. It is very strange to look at myself in the mirror and see...a belly. I feel large already although I know I will get a lot bigger than this before it's all over. It is just a strange feeling. I can't explain it. It is kind of cool though because I am starting to feel like I really am pregnant. Now I am excited to feel the baby move. I'm coming to the end of the 4th month and some people can feel their baby around that time, though not everybody. So we'll see what happens. I have always heard the feeling described as butterflies in the stomach but one of my friends who is pregnant told me she would describe it as someone poking you from the inside. I can really tell that I'm gaining extra weight when I run though. Exercising has gotten a lot harder.

So the puppies are growing..and growing, and growing. They have gotten so big and so fat. All good things. They have also gotten a lot more energetic. I had a hard time getting pictures of them this week for the 5 wk. pictures because they were moving so much. They are fast too. It is about time for someone to take them home. I need to check into putting an ad in the Dallas paper. We have an online ad with the Ft. Worth Star Telegram. We've had lots of lookers but no takers.

The weather here has been great for the past couple of days. 69 for a high and it rained yesterday. We're definitely enjoying the cooler temps and not having to use our ac. I went running this morning and my ears actually started hurting because of the cool air.

Last night I was thinking about my family and how creative they all are. It is so cool to get to see the unique gifts each person has and be thankful for those. It is also neat how everyone is so creative in their own way. Cindy is great at really detailed things like crocheting caps and scarves that someone would actually wear. Tammy makes gorgeous cakes. Ethan is really good at playing the guitar and even coming up with his own songs sometimes. My parents don't think they are creative and always wonder where their kids got all their creativity, but my parents are very creative. My mom crochets and is really good at it and my Dad is always coming up with ideas for making stuff. One time in Beaumont he made us a huge United States map puzzle out of a piece of plywood. In my art class (that I despise) my teacher gave us a list one day about creativity and what helps people to be creative. We had to read the list and then come up with our own idea so I put that Poverty inspires creativity. Maybe poverty is too strong of a word, but growing up in a situation where you can't just go buy something you want really encourages creativity. Some people take that creativity the wrong direction, but if taken in the right direction it can turn out to be a huge blessing. Anyway, that was my meditation for the day. :)

Tricia is coming over to watch The Office tonight with me! Yea! I'm looking forward to that. Hope all of you are having a gorgeous fall day wherever you are.

You are right that "poverty" helps develop creativity. Think about how all our grandparents came up with all sorts of games and things to do since they didn't have lots of toys and such. I am pretty cheap sometimes, and I get lots of enjoyment out of making/fixing things for myself instead of just buying it or hiring it done.

Even avoiding the TV with your kids helps develop creativity. Abriella doesn't watch TV and she's doing stuff all the time, and she plays her own little games (that I do not understand!), but hey, she's entertaining herself, and not sitting in front of a tele.

You look great, by the way! I was 2 days shy of 20 wks when i felt Abriella the first time. It felt like someone poked me lightly 3 times on the inside. It was wild! Often times, first time moms don't feel those munchkins until 20 wks or later, so don't get worried if it's not until then.

You look great and I can hardly tell that you are showing. I think that I first felt Cooper when I was 28 weeks!! I have felt the next two babies at around 15 weeks, so I think part of it is just realizing what you are feeling is the baby actually moving. Also, on the creativity note, I think that creativity is encouraged by the parents. If you allow your child the freedom to come up with their own ways of doing things or ideas for games even from a very young age. I think that poverty can increase it, but I also think that poverty can decrease it as well. (There are some students that I tutor that are extremely poor and thier creativity is nothing.) So I think there are lots of factors about creativity. I also think that TV can help your kids be creative if you watch and interact with your kids during shows that are intellectually stimulating to them. It's all in the parenting. So I guess your parents in their supposed "lack" of creativity did a great job in raising creative kids.

Getaway to Ticks Bend....I Mean Beavers Bend State Park

Back in April, we decided we needed to do a short family getaway after the semester was over. The last time we'd been on vacation just to vacation (not going to see family in CO) was when we went to San Antonio when Maddy was 3 months old. We found Beavers Bend State Park close to Broken Bow, OK and decided to go there. We booked a cabin in the state park and eagerly awaited the day we could take off for our getaway. We left on Sunday afternoon and stayed through Tuesday afternoon. It was short, but so fun and relaxing. We had no computer and no cell phones while we were up there. We just got to enjoy being around each other and the beautiful scenery.  We built a fire and roasted some marshmallows. Also popped some jiffy pop. Aaron had never done one of those before.  This is a 100 year old cabin they had at the visitor center. I like the mud chinking ( I think that's what it's called). A couple named Comma and Mabel lived in the cabin when the CCC was building t...

Another Sonogram

We went to the high risk pregnancy doc today for another sonogram. This time he could see all four chambers of the heart, the pulmonary valve, etc. In his words it looked "dramatically better". He feels there is still some slight compression on the heart and that we need to continue watching it. As of now he cannot see anything that is causing it and the MRI did not see anything either. He also felt that the hands were okay. They are not clenched fists at least as he first thought, meaning that the fingers aren't overlapping each other. Her hands are still in fists and she won't open them but he said he has had other babies that have not opened their fist in the sonogram but the hands have been normal at birth, so we still have a lot of hope for those little hands. He was able to get a better look at the face today, no cleft palate, so that is a huge blessing. The feet are still concerning. They are definitely clubbed but she is also not moving them. She is moving her...

More Miss Maddy pics

Here are some more pictures of Maddy. I know everyone is eager for pictures. We got to put her first little outfit on last night. She got out of the incubator bed and into a regular bassinet so she can now wear clothes and have her own blankies and stuff. It is great.
