4th of July Weekend

Look who finally came to visit! Uncle Ethan got to meet Maddy this weekend. About time!!

At the fireworks in Lewisville. Unbeknownst to us, there were aunts in the grass and Maddy got three ant bites on her had. They are all pussy and gross looking. She never fussed so I didn't know it happened until this morning at church.
This is the 4th of July dessert I concocted for our cookout. Very patriotic looking and pretty tasty too!
Forth worth at night.

Maddy playing with the pony we bought her in San Antonio. She is mesmerized by this toy. She likes punching at it with her hand and making it fall over.

Maddy with another toy she loves.

We had the most fun 4th of July weekend I can remember in several years. First of all Jessica came to visit for the weekend so that automatically made it awesome! She arrived Thursday evening and we stayed up way too late talking. The next day we had donuts for breakfast, went to Maddy's PT appointment and then took Jessica to DBU for a tour (0f course we stopped at Sonic for Happy hour on the way over!), and then went to Ft. Worth. In Fort Worth we went to the Kimbell Museum which is always free. We spent maybe an hour and a half there. Then we got hungry and went to Sundance Square. We found a yummy bbq place there called Rizcky's. They had all you can eat ribs for 9.95. After that we walked down to a water garden place where they had all different kinds of fountains.

So much fun! The next day we did a cookout with some friends at our house. We had burgers, deviled eggs, potato salad, fruit, jello dessert, chips...basically way too much food. That night we went up to Lewisville to see fireworks. Today Ethan, Nat and Rob came by on their way home from a friends wedding and we went to lunch with them at Arby's. It was good to see them. The people in there probably thought we were crazy cause we got to reminicing about Guy Lee and Ethan got up and did his Guy Leading Singing impression for Rob because he'd never told Rob about Guy Lee before. I was laughing so hard I was crying.
Anyway it was a great weekend. It flew by fast, I didn't get enough sleep, and I am so tired now, but it was great.

Getaway to Ticks Bend....I Mean Beavers Bend State Park

Back in April, we decided we needed to do a short family getaway after the semester was over. The last time we'd been on vacation just to vacation (not going to see family in CO) was when we went to San Antonio when Maddy was 3 months old. We found Beavers Bend State Park close to Broken Bow, OK and decided to go there. We booked a cabin in the state park and eagerly awaited the day we could take off for our getaway. We left on Sunday afternoon and stayed through Tuesday afternoon. It was short, but so fun and relaxing. We had no computer and no cell phones while we were up there. We just got to enjoy being around each other and the beautiful scenery.  We built a fire and roasted some marshmallows. Also popped some jiffy pop. Aaron had never done one of those before.  This is a 100 year old cabin they had at the visitor center. I like the mud chinking ( I think that's what it's called). A couple named Comma and Mabel lived in the cabin when the CCC was building t...

We Need Your Prayers

Many of you have probably heard all ready, but Aaron and I got some devastating news today. Our baby will probably not survive outside the womb. They did an amneostasis this afternoon to test for chromasomal defects, which is what they think it is right now. I know I am spelling everything wrong so I hope what I write makes enough sense for everyone to understand what is going on. The specialist we went to see feels that it is triploidy or triamias 18. Those may not be the right names but they are two of the three chromasomal defects. The other is down's syndrome. He did not feel that it was down's. The other two defects are fatal so if we carry the baby to term it will not live but for a few days or hours if one of the defects above is the problem. We will know in 2days. If it is not one of those then we will have to go to a cardiologist and a genetic counselor. The baby had clubbed hands and feel and it's heart is not formed correctly and is not in the right place. Becau...

Another Sonogram

We went to the high risk pregnancy doc today for another sonogram. This time he could see all four chambers of the heart, the pulmonary valve, etc. In his words it looked "dramatically better". He feels there is still some slight compression on the heart and that we need to continue watching it. As of now he cannot see anything that is causing it and the MRI did not see anything either. He also felt that the hands were okay. They are not clenched fists at least as he first thought, meaning that the fingers aren't overlapping each other. Her hands are still in fists and she won't open them but he said he has had other babies that have not opened their fist in the sonogram but the hands have been normal at birth, so we still have a lot of hope for those little hands. He was able to get a better look at the face today, no cleft palate, so that is a huge blessing. The feet are still concerning. They are definitely clubbed but she is also not moving them. She is moving her...
