We have had a nice vacation from doctors. Now it is back to the doctor appointment grind. We have four appointments this week. Two down and two to go. Today we went to OT and Scottish Rite. They were really impressed with her foot at SR. She scored a 1 and that is the best score she can get on the rating system they are using. That was really great to hear. She is at 22 degrees on the right knee and 15 on the left knee so the splints are holding her steady and she even had a 5 degree improvement on the right. I was happy to hear that because I was worried that being so off and on with exercises and stretches over vacation might have made it so she didn't progress much over the weeks we were gone. We will go back for new splints in three weeks. At OT we got on a swing to see how her sensory functions were working together. They seemed to be okay I guess. She enjoyed all the different stuff we did. She probably handled it better than I did. The twisting and spinning we did made me feel like falling over. I have terrible inner ear problems when it comes to that stuff. I guess Aaron will have to work with her on doing all these different types of moving motions with her.
On Thursday we have the ENT to check how her ears are doing. We are praying and hoping that the fluid drained over the vacation. She started getting startled at sudden noises while we were in Colorado which has never happened before. Once, Gracie, Kim's dog, barked really close to her and she jumped and started crying. I have never seen her react like that to sudden noises before. The OT today was commenting on how much more alert she seemed and so I told her we thought it was because she was hearing better. We'll see but we're hoping that we can avoid the ear tube surgery and that her hearing will be okay.
On Friday we go to see Dr. Herring at Scottish Rite. He will evaluate the progress and success of the splints and then we'll see where he wants to go from there.
Something we'd like all of you to be praying about is that on September 14th Maddy is scheduled to have the surgery for her tethered cord. We are very nervous about it of course. Aaron got a ticket for my mom to come down to be here for the surgery and then the day after. That will be a huge help to us. I am so glad she agreed to come. Anyhow, please keep that in your prayers and pray that it will go without complications and that she will heal and recover quickly.
That is all for now. Better go check on dinner before I burn it up. :)
