1 a.m.

I'm up at 1 a.m. with Maddy upstairs because for some reason she is wide awake and ready to play. I tried to put her in bed with us to get her to go to sleep, but no luck. Instead she decided that it would be fun to "share" her paci with me. She kept holding her paci up to my mouth and then taking it back and putting it in her mouth. She got a big kick out of that. And then she got bored and started crying so we are upstairs, happy,....and unfortunately still very awake. Looks like we won't be making PT tomorrow.
We had a whirlwind weekend, as we always do it seems. Friday we cleaned house, mowed the yard, and then headed off to DBU for a carnival they put on every spring. We didn't know what it was going to be like but it was actually better than we expected. They had quite a few games and rides. Aaron took Maddy down the gigantic blow up slide. I think it was called Konga Krazy or something weird like that. She was not impressed. She didn't cry but she just had a really annoyed look on her face at the end like she thought the slide was really lame. They had all kinds of fair food for free: corndogs, funnel cakes, pretzels, nachoes, drinks, etc. Unfortunately we couldn't eat much because we were headed to a 5K at UTA. We'll definitely be hitting that up next year though. We went over to UTA to get signed up for the race which started at 8. Had to pay extra for t-shirts so I was disappointed because these were actually small enough to fit me well. Usually race shirts end up making me look like I need to hit the gym and take some creotine for awhile. I pushed the stroller at the race last weekend that we did at DBU so Aaron said it was his turn. We were definitely the oldest people there except for one guy but we strangely ended up with Aaron 2nd overall and then me 2nd in the women's division. Hilarious! Aaron's time was pretty impressive but mine was sad. Unfortunately we didn't win any of the raffles they had going so all we had to show for our race was a medal and some glory.
Saturday I pretty much cooked all day because we had Aaron's cell biology class over for dinner that evening. We had a good group and I think they all enjoyed the food and getting to hang out. Their was another baby here and Maddy enjoyed that. He was a seven month old and Maddy was fascinated with his hair. His mom had it kind of spiked up and she kept patting his head like he was a dog. So funny!
Today we had a brisket dinner after church to raise money for kids going to camp this summer so we stayed for that and it was an excellent decision. Seriously the best brisket I think I've ever had. Tender and amazing flavor. I need to find out who made it and learn from them.
So we are pretty wiped out after the weekend, except for Maddy apparently. Aaron has a stack of papers as high as the Eiffel tower to grade and I have a 10 page paper looming over me that I haven't written one word of, but two more weeks and the semester will pretty much be over. Thank God for summer breaks! I have decided not to take a class this summer. I need some rest.
Maybe if you were awake and read this you are now asleep. I think my baby is winding down. Time to see if we can go to bed!
Oh! one more thing. Questions on the last blog about my crazy experiment: The deodorant is a little goopy but after thinking about it I put goopy stuff (gel, lotion, shampoo) all over my body all the time, why get upset if deodorant is the same way? And it worked awesome for the 5K. I did not smell bad at all after the race. Verdict is still out on the cornstarch hair shampoo. I feel like I haven't used it enough times to say what effect if is/will have on the texture of my hair. As of now it feels soft and silky but I don't know if using the dry shampoo multiple times would maintain that or not. So far I'm really happy with the results after I got rid of the grey hair. :) Did the shampoo last Tuesday and still going strong and have not had to do anything again so far. I'm hoping I can make it a whole week. That would be awesome. Huge time saver!
Oh, also please pray for us on Tuesday because we are taking Maddy to the Nutritionist that morning. They are going to look at her diet and see what changes or adjustments they can make to boost her calories, etc. Should be pretty interesting and hopefully we can have positive things come out of working with them.
Alright, I am really done this time. Sorry for the lack of pictures. Have a happy week!

Getaway to Ticks Bend....I Mean Beavers Bend State Park

Back in April, we decided we needed to do a short family getaway after the semester was over. The last time we'd been on vacation just to vacation (not going to see family in CO) was when we went to San Antonio when Maddy was 3 months old. We found Beavers Bend State Park close to Broken Bow, OK and decided to go there. We booked a cabin in the state park and eagerly awaited the day we could take off for our getaway. We left on Sunday afternoon and stayed through Tuesday afternoon. It was short, but so fun and relaxing. We had no computer and no cell phones while we were up there. We just got to enjoy being around each other and the beautiful scenery.  We built a fire and roasted some marshmallows. Also popped some jiffy pop. Aaron had never done one of those before.  This is a 100 year old cabin they had at the visitor center. I like the mud chinking ( I think that's what it's called). A couple named Comma and Mabel lived in the cabin when the CCC was building t...

We Need Your Prayers

Many of you have probably heard all ready, but Aaron and I got some devastating news today. Our baby will probably not survive outside the womb. They did an amneostasis this afternoon to test for chromasomal defects, which is what they think it is right now. I know I am spelling everything wrong so I hope what I write makes enough sense for everyone to understand what is going on. The specialist we went to see feels that it is triploidy or triamias 18. Those may not be the right names but they are two of the three chromasomal defects. The other is down's syndrome. He did not feel that it was down's. The other two defects are fatal so if we carry the baby to term it will not live but for a few days or hours if one of the defects above is the problem. We will know in 2days. If it is not one of those then we will have to go to a cardiologist and a genetic counselor. The baby had clubbed hands and feel and it's heart is not formed correctly and is not in the right place. Becau...

Another Sonogram

We went to the high risk pregnancy doc today for another sonogram. This time he could see all four chambers of the heart, the pulmonary valve, etc. In his words it looked "dramatically better". He feels there is still some slight compression on the heart and that we need to continue watching it. As of now he cannot see anything that is causing it and the MRI did not see anything either. He also felt that the hands were okay. They are not clenched fists at least as he first thought, meaning that the fingers aren't overlapping each other. Her hands are still in fists and she won't open them but he said he has had other babies that have not opened their fist in the sonogram but the hands have been normal at birth, so we still have a lot of hope for those little hands. He was able to get a better look at the face today, no cleft palate, so that is a huge blessing. The feet are still concerning. They are definitely clubbed but she is also not moving them. She is moving her...
