Alright, to make a long story short, or at least shorter, after two day of working on our car everyone decided that it had a busted head and would take weeks to repair. My family reunion started at noon Friday and we were still in Montrose trying to figure out how to get over there at 4:30. Finally we decided Aaron's dad and my dad would meet halfway. We got to the camp at 1 a.m. Saturday morning. They had had bad thunderstorms so all the electricity was out and we had to unload by flashlight. The next day we found out that Aaron's dad went out to work on the car and discovered it ran just fine. Thank goodness and ARRRRGGGGGG!!!! all at the same time. Anyhow, we had a great time at the reunion. This is Maddy with her cousin Thomas. (He is not her first cousin but I don't have the energy or care enough to puzzle out exactly how they are related. Enough that they had fun playing together.) He is 8 months old.
The reunion was filled with great conversations, laughs, games, and food as usual. Jessica and Nat are sampling homemade ice cream which I'll get to in a minute.
We had a baby shower for my sister while we were there. We made her a diaper cake. It turned out cute and we had lots of fun making it and now she has tons of diapers.
This is my sister Cindy with the painting Maddy made for Bethany. Below we are laughing because my Uncle Billy who works with cows at a sale barn in Roswell gave Cindy a red P along with her gift. That's how they mark the pregnant cows who are above 7 months pregnant.
My immediate fam always puts on a theme night during the reunion. this year we did "Night Under the Stars" which was a picnic theme. We kept it simple this year and had hot dogs and potato salad, etc. We also had a lot of games to play including a three legged race. My parents won the race and they are holding up their prizes. We also did an ice cream making contest. Uncle David and Janet won that contest with their "Strawberry Surprise" and my dad was a close second with a delicious chocolate ice cream.
We sat up picnic blankets on the floor for those who wanted to feel like they were picnicking in the great outdoors.
Always lots of sports activities at the reunion-basketball and rag ball were the two main outdoor activities this year.
The little kids played on the porch a lot. Maddy loved playing with all of her cousins.
She also had a blast wheeling around in the stander on the porch.
Me and my dad.
Tammy, mom, and Aaron.
One of the longest running and favorite family reunion activities is the talent show. Maddy did an act with her cousin Alex. He set up dominoes and Maddy was supposed to knock them all down within 45 seconds. Well we ruined his act because everyone jumped up to take pictures and started clapping for her after she knocked the first one down. So instead of completing her task she stopped to clap for herself and pose for the cameras. I am raising a little ham. Maybe she will be joining her cousin Brittany in Hollywood in a few years. :)
