Baby Update, King Tut, and Apartment Ministry

So yesterday was a pretty busy day. We went to our weekly dr. appointment in the morning. The NST again went okay. The b strep test they did last week came back negative so no antibiotics during labor. We also found out that I am 2 cm dilated! I know that doesn't mean much in the whole scheme of going into labor. Many people can stay there for several weeks, but I am happy that my body is preparing somewhat because it looks like we will be scheduling induction for March 30th. I am really hoping I go into labor on my own a few days before then. That is my preference, but the fact that I am a little dialated took the fear away that my body would not be ready for induction and it would turn into a disaster if they tried to induce me before my body was ready. So we'll see what happens but the fact that I was a little dilated scared Aaron to death. You could almost see a physical shock hit him when the doctor said that. This week is spring break. Aaron still has to go into the office but doesn't have to get there at a certain time or anything. Well, this morning he slept in a little but he was ready to take off by 8. I said, "You're leaving already?" and he said "I need to get some stuff done because of 2 cm dilated." It cracked me up but I'm glad it gives him some motivation. Both of us have been very unmotivated about finishing up school stuff the last couple of days.
The baby room is now officially painted. I will be picking up the drop clothes and other stuff in there today so that we can move furniture in. I just have a dresser that needs to go in there right now and then a desk that needs to be moved to where the dresser was in the guest room. Some people are coming over to dinner tonight and I think he's going to get the guy to help him out on moving stuff.
After the doctor appointment we came home and did some chores, ate some lunch, and then took off for King Tut. Right as we arrived at our exit for the museum, we realized we forgot our tickets that we'd printed off. We'd also forgotten change for the parking meter. So we had to park in a lot which was way more expensive. Then we went in and found the ticket people. Fortunately they were able to help us out and look up our tickets and print them off for us. The entry to the exhibit is times so you have to go in at the time your tickets are for so there was no way we could have gone back home and gotten back in time. But we got in! They are doing a special matinee price Mondays-Thursdays right now so that was nice too. The exhibit was very interesting. They had a lot of really intricate statues, vases, chests, and chairs on display. The jewelry they found with King Tut's body was one of the most impressive parts to me. It was so detailed and intricate. There were 150 pieces of jewelry found with his body. They had about 10 pieces in the exhibit. They also had an interesting part about how they examined his body to try to determine what caused his death. They have never been able to figure that out. Anyway, it was worth going to. My calves are sore today from all the standing and walking we did.
After the exhibit we went back home again. Got a snack and then took off to help with the apartment ministry kick off thing. We got there about 1/2 hour before. When it was supposed to start no one showed up so we ate some hotdogs ourselves. About 15 minutes after, three kids came but no one else. One of the ministers finally decided to go knock on doors and invite people to eat. We had passed out fliers 2 Saturdays previous to this event but they obviously were not effective. So after he did that we had quite a few come. Aaron and I ran the Plinko game. They dropped a ping pong ball in a hole and if it landed on 1 they got 1 piece of candy or a 2 they got 2 pieces. Then we ended with a pinata bust. Scary! These kids would not stay back while the blindfolded kid was swinging. If a piece of candy happened to come out, one of the kids, usually a boy, would run out while the other kid was swinging the stick about .000001 cm from his head and grab the candy. But no one got hurt. That finished the party. Next week they will start the Bible club thing that this was a kickoff for. They basically do a VBS type thing for an hour every other Tues. They are hoping to get enough people helping that they can eventually do it every Tues.
Sorry I don't have any pictures with this post. No photos allowed in the King Tut exhibit. :( I could rip something off the internet but I'm too lazy.

Enjoy your last few days of being a couple. Sleep as much as possible, because after that baby gets here you will never look at sleep the same way again. :) Can't wait to see her!

Great! I was 1 cm dilated at my 35 wk appointment with Abs. It IS nice to know that your body at least has a little clue about what is going to happen. Praying that you have Maddy before your induction date!

Ooh, that's really exciting (not King Tut, although that would be cool too). Looks like you are getting the baby room done just in time. :)

Wow, glad it worked out to have your tickets reprinted. Would have been a shame to miss that exhibit.

Getaway to Ticks Bend....I Mean Beavers Bend State Park

Back in April, we decided we needed to do a short family getaway after the semester was over. The last time we'd been on vacation just to vacation (not going to see family in CO) was when we went to San Antonio when Maddy was 3 months old. We found Beavers Bend State Park close to Broken Bow, OK and decided to go there. We booked a cabin in the state park and eagerly awaited the day we could take off for our getaway. We left on Sunday afternoon and stayed through Tuesday afternoon. It was short, but so fun and relaxing. We had no computer and no cell phones while we were up there. We just got to enjoy being around each other and the beautiful scenery.  We built a fire and roasted some marshmallows. Also popped some jiffy pop. Aaron had never done one of those before.  This is a 100 year old cabin they had at the visitor center. I like the mud chinking ( I think that's what it's called). A couple named Comma and Mabel lived in the cabin when the CCC was building the

Another Sonogram

We went to the high risk pregnancy doc today for another sonogram. This time he could see all four chambers of the heart, the pulmonary valve, etc. In his words it looked "dramatically better". He feels there is still some slight compression on the heart and that we need to continue watching it. As of now he cannot see anything that is causing it and the MRI did not see anything either. He also felt that the hands were okay. They are not clenched fists at least as he first thought, meaning that the fingers aren't overlapping each other. Her hands are still in fists and she won't open them but he said he has had other babies that have not opened their fist in the sonogram but the hands have been normal at birth, so we still have a lot of hope for those little hands. He was able to get a better look at the face today, no cleft palate, so that is a huge blessing. The feet are still concerning. They are definitely clubbed but she is also not moving them. She is moving her

One Year Ago Today

One year ago today we found out we were having a little girl. One year ago today, the OB called us into his office and told us that Maddy was not going to survive. One year ago today God heard the prayers of many friends and family and he started working a miracle. One year ago today I thought I would never see my precious little girl alive. One year ago today I was so shocked I didn't and couldn't feel anything but disbelief. One year ago today, God started planning that today a little girl named Madeline Mae Fletcher would be by my side as I write this, talking and playing with her stuffed cow that Aunt Tammy gave her. One year ago today God set out to prove that he is faithful and he hears his people's prayers and that he still does miracles. Today is bittersweet because one year ago today our dreams and plans we had for our new life with our baby girl were destroyed. But one year ago today God started making a new plan to give us a different dream and a different plan.
