Oh No She Didn't!

Just a quick note to let everyone know that Maddy has ANOTHER set of casts. On Tuesday morning I called Scottish Rite because I could tell her foot was starting to pull back. I really wanted to take her to her physical therapy appt because she hadn't been in two weeks. After the day was over I wished I had just canceled it because she was so fussy about her cast slipping of that the PT couldn't do a thing with her. We went to Scottish Rite right after the PT so she didn't eat from 11 until 5 and she was totally exhausted because the only sleep she got was the car rides. They decided to try something different. The taped her foot that had the surgery and then put a "soft cast" over that. They also went ahead and put a cast back on her left leg to continue stretching the knee. The soft cast is a fiber glass cast. It rolls on like an ace bandage and they harden it with this lotion stuff they rub on to the cast. The nice thing about these casts is that if they start to slip or create a problem, we can take them off ourselves. Of course we would have to go back and get them replaced but it wouldn't be so urgent as with the plaster cast because we can get them off and alleviate the discomfort for her. This is really nice this week especially since we're planning to go to West Texas for the weekend. We'll probably leave tomorrow afternoon after Maddy's audiology appt. Please be in prayer about that and that her hearing will be fine. We are a little nervous about it, but if there is a problem we will deal with it however we can. However, it would be great if there wasn't a problem so please be praying for her and us. Her appt is at two. I'll let you know how it goes.

The saga of the casts continues... I think that Maddy is doing her best to wiggle out of those things on purpose. :) I will be praying about your audiology appt, I know you are dreading it. It will be over soon.

me o mio! I can't believe how fast those things come off. I'm glad you have the option to do it yourself now. It makes me think about how I can never keep any kind of covering on the dogs. They take it off immediately. I think Maddy's doing the same. She waits for you to go to sleep and goes to town on the casts. haha. Good luck with the appt. Have a great trip!

I sure wish that I could head to West Texas with you guys!! :-( Man!!! But moving awaits this weekend. Ya'll timed that trip just right to get out of getting called on for help, lol! I was wondering if you would still go if you were still having cast drama, but I'm glad that they came up with a better solution. I know everyone is going to be so excited to meet Maddy! Hope she does okay on her first major road trip! But all those trips to Scottish Rite probably equal a trip to Lubbock and back by now, huh!

Getaway to Ticks Bend....I Mean Beavers Bend State Park

Back in April, we decided we needed to do a short family getaway after the semester was over. The last time we'd been on vacation just to vacation (not going to see family in CO) was when we went to San Antonio when Maddy was 3 months old. We found Beavers Bend State Park close to Broken Bow, OK and decided to go there. We booked a cabin in the state park and eagerly awaited the day we could take off for our getaway. We left on Sunday afternoon and stayed through Tuesday afternoon. It was short, but so fun and relaxing. We had no computer and no cell phones while we were up there. We just got to enjoy being around each other and the beautiful scenery.  We built a fire and roasted some marshmallows. Also popped some jiffy pop. Aaron had never done one of those before.  This is a 100 year old cabin they had at the visitor center. I like the mud chinking ( I think that's what it's called). A couple named Comma and Mabel lived in the cabin when the CCC was building t...

Another Sonogram

We went to the high risk pregnancy doc today for another sonogram. This time he could see all four chambers of the heart, the pulmonary valve, etc. In his words it looked "dramatically better". He feels there is still some slight compression on the heart and that we need to continue watching it. As of now he cannot see anything that is causing it and the MRI did not see anything either. He also felt that the hands were okay. They are not clenched fists at least as he first thought, meaning that the fingers aren't overlapping each other. Her hands are still in fists and she won't open them but he said he has had other babies that have not opened their fist in the sonogram but the hands have been normal at birth, so we still have a lot of hope for those little hands. He was able to get a better look at the face today, no cleft palate, so that is a huge blessing. The feet are still concerning. They are definitely clubbed but she is also not moving them. She is moving her...

More Miss Maddy pics

Here are some more pictures of Maddy. I know everyone is eager for pictures. We got to put her first little outfit on last night. She got out of the incubator bed and into a regular bassinet so she can now wear clothes and have her own blankies and stuff. It is great.
