Maddy went to the developmental pediatrician this morning. She is now at 12-13 months for gross motor skills. Her fine motor and cognitive tested at 24 months and her language skills tested at 27-30 MONTHS!! This is so impressive since she has hearing loss. God has definitely blessed her and our family. The doctor brought up the idea of maybe getting her a K walker. This would most likely not be something that she would use the rest of her life but something she could use to practice walking more and develop her walking muscles. We see her doctor at Scottish Rite in a couple of weeks so we'll check into this. Anyway, she is doing great. We are also working with ECI right now to get her some therapists for speech and eating. We don't know that she really needs speech but they are going to send someone to evaluate her and check everything out. So we have a lot of opportunities for her therapy wise right now.
Spring Break is almost here! I give my students their midterm this week. I hope they pass and don't all come back from Spring Break wanting to kill me. The midterm and final are papers written in class and then graded by a group of professors so I really have no control over their passing or failing the class. The grade I give them effects their GPA but doesn't have anything to do with whether they pass the class or have to take it again. Kind of a weird situation to teach in. I don't know if I like it. I guess I can do my best to make the other professors look like the bad guys if a student doesn't pass. Of course there are a few that just don't care and probably don't deserve to pass on matter who grades their paper, but I would say that I think the majority of my students have the ability and have done the work to deserve a passing grade. We shall see.
Pray for us because, as I've mentioned previously, Aaron will be gone to Kenya all of Spring Break. I am glad Tammy is here so I'm not totally on my own, but 10 days is a long time for him to be gone. Plus it is so far away. I think I might do a little painting in the living/dining area over the break. We'll see if I can get motivated.
