Maddy on Tour

After Maddy's audiology appointment we ran home and packed up and then headed for Farwell, TX to start memorial day weekend! Maddy was worn out from the appointment so she slept well on the trip. We got to Farwell about 1 a.m. My parents had already been there a day. They were up when we got there so my dad could see Maddy. She was asleep when we got in so we all went to bed pretty quickly. The next morning she got to meet Great Grandpa and Grandma Embry. They were so cute. My papa could not have any peace til he had a picture with Maddy. He was afraid we were going to leave without him getting a picture with her. My mema just wanted to hold her all the time. She kept peeking in on her while she was sleeping. It was really cute.
For lunch (dinner as they say in Farwell) the family came over and we had ham, mema's rolls, salads, and potatoes. For dessert they made homemade ice cream and Amanda brought a delicious butter pecan cake. After that we sat around talking for most of the afternoon. It was good to see everyone and Dawson was there. I hadn't seen him in a while so that was nice.
The next day we went to Lubbock., but not before eating mema's yummy cinnamon rolls! We got to Lubbock for lunch and ate with Great Grandpa and Grandma Eckstein who were thrilled to see Maddy. We played a couple rounds of scrabble with Grandpa that afternoon and then the Crosses came over for dinner that evening. We hadn't seen Brian in quite a while so it was good to see him and the kids had definitely grown. They are all cuties. Aaron really enjoyed holding Clayton. He thought she was such a cute baby. The next day was Sunday so we went to church with Grandpa and Grandma at Central. I spent most of the service feeding Maddy and then Aaron spent the other part walking Maddy in the back because she was not ready to go to sleep. After church we went to Rosa's for lunch and then back to G and G's. My mom and I went to Wal-Mart for a couple of things and then we went to Chrissy and Brian's while G&G and my Dad went to small group. We met them at Wattaburger later on and had a hamburger with Uncle John. I think Grandpa was already done passing out his tracts by the time we got there but he did have one that he gave to Aaron to pass on to someone. :) After that we went back hom and played another game of scrabble with Grandpa. We all slept in on Monday morning. Then Aaron and my dad picked up our meat from Ethan's house and we headed back home.
I think getting to introduce Maddy to everyone just made this trip exta special. And it was so good for her to have a break from doctors picking on her and just have people hold her and love her. We definitely look forward to more opportunities for that for her in the future. I thought she would get off schedule really bad while we were on the trip. She was definitely out of routine a little bit but Aaron and I had decided to be laid back about schedules when we weren't at home because getting to socialize with family and everyone feeling like they had time to spend with the baby was a lot more important. She still did really well and has popped right back into her schedule and routine now that we're home. All in all it was a great trip.
This week we have 2 month shots on Wednesday, Scottish Rite on Thursday, and Physical Therapy on Friday so we'd appreciate your prayers about all those things. Nothing should be too big of a deal but it will be tiring for us all. Hope all of you had as great of a memorial day as I did!

I am soooo jealous!!! Especially when you started talking about all the yummy homemade food! I would have given anything to trade where I was at for being with you guys!! That was a very productive trip as far as getting Maddy introduced to a lot of important family members! :-) I notice Ethan wasn't mentioned...was he not there?

Getaway to Ticks Bend....I Mean Beavers Bend State Park

Back in April, we decided we needed to do a short family getaway after the semester was over. The last time we'd been on vacation just to vacation (not going to see family in CO) was when we went to San Antonio when Maddy was 3 months old. We found Beavers Bend State Park close to Broken Bow, OK and decided to go there. We booked a cabin in the state park and eagerly awaited the day we could take off for our getaway. We left on Sunday afternoon and stayed through Tuesday afternoon. It was short, but so fun and relaxing. We had no computer and no cell phones while we were up there. We just got to enjoy being around each other and the beautiful scenery.  We built a fire and roasted some marshmallows. Also popped some jiffy pop. Aaron had never done one of those before.  This is a 100 year old cabin they had at the visitor center. I like the mud chinking ( I think that's what it's called). A couple named Comma and Mabel lived in the cabin when the CCC was building t...

Another Sonogram

We went to the high risk pregnancy doc today for another sonogram. This time he could see all four chambers of the heart, the pulmonary valve, etc. In his words it looked "dramatically better". He feels there is still some slight compression on the heart and that we need to continue watching it. As of now he cannot see anything that is causing it and the MRI did not see anything either. He also felt that the hands were okay. They are not clenched fists at least as he first thought, meaning that the fingers aren't overlapping each other. Her hands are still in fists and she won't open them but he said he has had other babies that have not opened their fist in the sonogram but the hands have been normal at birth, so we still have a lot of hope for those little hands. He was able to get a better look at the face today, no cleft palate, so that is a huge blessing. The feet are still concerning. They are definitely clubbed but she is also not moving them. She is moving her...

More Miss Maddy pics

Here are some more pictures of Maddy. I know everyone is eager for pictures. We got to put her first little outfit on last night. She got out of the incubator bed and into a regular bassinet so she can now wear clothes and have her own blankies and stuff. It is great.
